“A beautiful walk starting in Hebden Bridge”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

A peaceful circular walk through an unspoilt wooded dale passing Gibson Cotton Mill, which was one of the first powered mills in the country. At Blake Dean it is an ideal spot to rest awhile and enjoy a picnic. Beyond here the views open up with the moors stretching out beyond.

National Trust property with some interesting history, we were lucky enough to have a guided tour. There is some good easy walking and the river walk is a must. Staff very friendly and helpful.

“Craggy indeed!”

Stunning scenery, raw and rocky. Definitely worth a trip but watch your footing as it can be dangerously vertiginous at times.

“Good easy walking”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We took a day out to Hebden Bridge. Found Hardcastle Craggs carpark well signposted and 1 mile walk to the mill was no problem. One of the woodland pathway footbridges had been washed away so the "Constitutional' walk was not as dramatic - although we did have the treat of watching a heron fishing. Walking through the woods along the river is peaceful - give a couple or three hours to get the best. Development of attractions in the mill is ongoing, but interesting enough so far.
