“A little bit of Italy and a lot of passion”
Reviewed July 1, 2012 via mobile

Having visited the main Prego restaurant many times, we were delighted to see that the restaurant now offers a great selection of food between breakfast and late lunch, in the new cafe area.

Ordering the equivalent of an Italian Tapas, we chose 4 dishes, which the waitress gave a very detailed overview of. We had selected 5 dishes but she advised us to drop one dish as we'd have plenty - she was right!

The Squid and Chorizo being my favourite along with fantastic prawn dish - if it's a lighter bite you're after, or a more varied lunch - you've got to give the lunchtime menu a try !

The menu also carries a variety of panini's, jacket potatoes and a number of specials for the day.

It's a great ambience and clearly proving to be very popular, we were able to pick out own table but by 1pm, it was busy.

Businessmen and "Lafies who lunch" rubbing shoulders and enjoying the atmosphere!

An Italian indulgent Tapas lunch for two, with wine and coffee cost less than £25, however I did go back two days later and enjoyed a huge panini with a Lattee for around £6 !

Acid test - would I reccomend? - yes!

Would I go back - have done on four occasions since!

“A great Italian”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

If you want true authentic Italian food that is generoulsy served and generous in portion then this is the place for you. The atmosphere is as if you were in Italy in a tratoria near the seaside or some remote little village in Umbria or Tuscany. You must visit!

“Average”

Having visited the owners other restaurant da Sandros in bircencliffe on many occasions thought we would sample prego.
All I can say is it's not up to the same standard as da Sandros.

“Food a bit hit and miss”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

This is a nicely decorated restaurant with pleasant staff, but we found the quality of food to be a bit mixed. Very good (and plentiful) starters, and a couple of our group had an excellent risotto. However, the pizzas were a little bit 'doughy', though to be fair the toppings were good.

“Fake Parmesan cheese”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

This was the 4th time we have been to Pregos. We ate from the early bird menu, the chicken pasta was very bland and the chicken chewy. When the waiter came round with a bown of fresh parmesan, as is a must for any Italian, I was very surprised as it didnt taste like Parmesan cheese and im sure was the cheaper fake Parmigiano. This is a definate NO NO and I will not be going again. Sorry Pregos but youve gone downhill.
