Holiday Inn Leeds Brighouse

We stayed for two nights in May, we should have stayed down the road at The Premier Inn and saved some money. This is one of the few business hotels I have ever stayed in where you pay more for a weekend night than you do for a week day. I mean - if this was Venice fine but Brighouse? We were on the first floor, with no lift and a fair walk from reception with quite a few bags and no offer of help.
The place looks tired, not clean but not dirty either, just slightly grubby. Not what you expect from Holiday Inn.
The room was average, with a flat screen TV that had the big 5 channels and some others that I found by playing about with the system. Not the full freeview package however. The door to the balcony was open with no key to lock it. Despite asking reception to either give us the key or lock it themselves it remained unlocked for the time we were there. So wind and road noise sent us to sleep. Towels in the bath for changing were not changed. Shampoo and soap not replenished. It's just minor things that make up a bad impression when joined together.
It seems to be the place for wedding receptions - so expect noise and dissruption on Saturday night. We quite fancied a drink in the courtyard but that wasn't allowed as we might peak into the wedding celebrations - so we didn't bother having a drink there at all. In fact we didn't use any of the facilities and couldn't wait to get out.
I think you can do better at other chains, and if I was staying in the area again I would go somewhere else.
If this is how the Holiday Inn brand now represents itself, it had better watch out. More agile competitors with a far better product at a competitive price are in the market!

We stayed for one night on a National Holidays trip. We were upgraded to an Executive Room which was very clean and comfortable. The evening buffet and buffet breakfast were both excellent, with plenty of choice and extremely good and attentive service from the staff. We didn't use the Leisure Club, but it looked very nice and we wished we had taken our swimsuits. We very much enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is quite isolated if you don't have a car and it is not in a village or town. However, we did walk up the very steep hill to the quiet, up-market pub at the top.

stayed here whilst attending a wedding in Brighouse. Hotel was really good value. Evening meal was good and not too expensive. Room was on the ground floor facing the back but did not overlook a brick wall as is often our luck. Would stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel for oe night on business while visiting a large retail manufacturer nearby. The travel links by car are excellent and found this hotel effortlessly. There was plenty of parking and great views of the surrounding valleys, countryside. The hotel staff were excellent and helpful throughout. I ordered room service & this was a reasonable cost and well made, tasted very good for hotel food. Everything aout the room was as to be expected and would love to stay at this location again.

Stayed here in April 2010 and have to say without the staff it would be a 2 out of 5. I have still yet to stay in a Holiday Inn that impresses me however unlike other Holiday Inns the staff were very helpful.

I only stayed one night on a business trip and if you are looking for a cheap (although not that cheap) night close to Halifax this is OK. The cost of the room was booked through the company I work for however it only costs a £1 a night more to stay in the Mint in Leeds which had equally good staff, much better rooms and far better food.

I stayed in room 215 which had two single beds which for the first time I can remember for a long time managed to give me an aching neck which lasted all day. There are no curtains just blinds that let the light in. The TV has only terrestrial TV plus a couple of news channels and the bathroom lacks everything except the essentials. All round and average room with no real upside.

Food, I had the corporate £20 dinner for two courses plus wine and in fairness the house wine was pleasant. The food was average, not horrible but nothing that you would recommend, however the mini chocolate brownie which I had with a double espresso for dessert was very nice and certainly the highlight of the meal. The one area that was very good was the waiting staff in the restaurant who were very attentive and got everything right, were friendly and attentive and all in all deserve to be in a much better place than the Holiday Inn. For breakfast it is standard fare, again the staff were good (although not quite as good as the evening staff) and the food was adequate but lacking anything about average.

Checking out was a little painful as there was only one person on the desk at 7:30 which you would consider to be a busy time for a hotel that puts up business guests. The staff at the desk at both check in and out were attentive and helpful.

Overall this is OK, the rooms are below average and the food is average but the staff are better than average.

I booked a night for 5000 Priority Club points with 2 adults and 2 kids. The room had 2 double beds. It was clean, spaceous and on the ground floor. It was a Friday night and there was a wedding on in one of the function rooms, but you couldn't hear it from the room. In the morning, we had a swim. The pool is a reasonable size, and there is a nice view from the jacuzzi. We didn't eat at the hotel, but I did get a voucher for a free drink at the bar.
