Description: Hussain's Brighouse has now closed up shop. We are really sorry for all of those that have supported us over the years. Hussain'at Lindley in Huddersfield (just 10 minutes from Brighouse !) Is still going strong and welcomes all of those that like what we do. You'll find the same menu but it's menu only - sorry no buffet. Sorry once again. Hussain's.

We had an a la carte meal here on Saturday night as a party of seven. We were seated upstairs and were really surprised to find the restaurant almost empty. I was initially irritated that they only served small bottled beer but they seemed to get around that by serving you two small carlsbergs to make a pint, at £1.50 each.

The starters, when they came out, were absolutely excellent. I had the mushroom dish which was superb. One of my 5 year olds found the lamb chops too spicy, but when I tasted them they were simply superb: tender and delicious. Everyone round the table demolished them.

The curries were a bit of a mixed bag but overall very good. The lamb garlic butter karai was delicious as was the one, who's name escapes me, with plum chutney. The kids loved the nans although one of their curries was ridiculously sweet.

Overall there was enough quality food on offer here for me to want to go back, although it was a real mystery why the place was absolutely dead on a Saturday night. It was dearer than many curries, but overall justified the price.

Had a lovely time here. We arrived about 4:30ish on a Sunday and were the only customers at first. It soon filled up though. We were made to feel very welcome. The waiter was ace and explained that our starters would be cooked fresh. After a fab pickle tray and poppadoms, we got served the biggest mound of amazingly tasting starters. beautuful. Then we had a selection of curries and side dishes to chose from. Naans are an extra charge, but at £10 for the buffet not extortionate. We thought the food was lovely, muc better than Akkash and we love their buffet too. Less choice than their, but better tasting food and 10X better, personal experience.

Hi Paulito86,
thanks for your very positive comments. For future reference order plain nan when you have your mains as they are all in with the £9.95 buffet.

Hope to see again soon.

First visit, courteous staff, ate from the buffet, food spicy, fresh tasting and aromatic, naan bread outstanding. Very like good home cooked food I've made ( madhur jaffrey fan!) . Open Kitchen. Food not oily, , atmosphere relaxed and informal.

We have been a few times to this restaurant and have always had a lovely meal in a very welcoming atmosphere. There is a real family air about the place and they really can't do enough to ensure you enjoy your meal.
We have tried other Curry restaurants and this one is our preference. We have been very disappointed by the Thaal another local restaurant and feel they do not deserve our business either for the quality of food or service but Hussains (formerly known as The Street) never fails to impress.
Prices for the food are good although drink is a bit expensive. I preferred the restaurant upstairs before the refurbishment but its a matter of opinion, What you do get is very good authentic cuisine served by people who want you to enjoy both the food and atmosphere Well done Hussains and Thank you.. Give this one a try folks.. However small warning the food is a bit hot if you dont like it that way just ask and they will make it milder.

Hi Margiegb,
sincere thanks for your review of the upstairs restaurant.
Just to let you know that we set the drinks prices to deliberately avoid the water jug drinkers.
There's glasses of wine at £2.75, bottles of beer at £2.50 & soft drinks from glass bottles at £1.75
I don't think you'll get much closer to pub prices in a restaurant. I thought I'd drop a response so readers aren't misled into thinking we're loading drink prices.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to record your comments.

Really good. Went for the Sunday buffet late afternoon, got straight in and got a table for 5 no problem. Starters were cooked whilst we had a drink, food was superb! Our three year old loved the food too! Bill was spot on. Really clean and very nicely done out inside.
