We had the pleasure to work with Giacomo at Ghibellina Tours, to plan a very special day in Tuscany in June 2013. His love for his country shone through as he helped us custom select every venue that day, in a well-edited tour of the Montalcino and Pienza areas.

The winery was a highlight... like visiting family friends with a vineyard and award-winning wines, the right amount of background and history of their vineyard plus a beautiful setting. The children enjoyed wandering in the vineyard with the border collie and had their own table to draw pictures while we were sampling the wines.

The choice for lunch was great, accommodating a table for twelve with the advance planning from Giacomo in a small, quaint restaurant with a wonderful view. Afterwards we had time to wander around the town, to enjoy the shops and galleries. The perfect timing gave the day a feeling of easy casualness and the views attracted our attention.

Giacomo's choice for dinner was maybe our favorite part of the day. In a small, beautiful vineyard, we were served a homecooked pasta dinner in the owner's home, with pairings of wines, cheese, olives and honey and finished with the best tiramisu ever. This was a lovely conclusion to a day of sights.

Giacomo's attention to detail made the logistics and transportation work very well for our family, 12 people across three generations. His contacts were all courteous, friendly and thoughtful, the venues were charming and the comfortable air-conditioned bus let all family members enjoy the trip. I highly recommend his work, and we all have a treasured memory of our family trip and the beauty and warmth of Tuscany. Thank you, Giacomo!

We didn't want to miss out on experiencing the little villages and countryside after attending a friend's wedding in the south of Tuscany, and Giacomo was the perfect solution.

As a guide who genuinely loves the region, a tour with Giacomo in Tuscany makes you want to stay there, and skip the main cities - rich of culture though they are!

If you can't/don't want to drive, but want to experience the whole of the Italian culture & lifestyle in the laid back Tuscan hills, then Giacomo is a great pick!

Our group of 3 toured for a couple of days with Giacomo patiently taking us to remote, wonderful Tuscan sites. This included a private wine tasting at a winery in Montalcino, San Polino, that was straight out of a movie set yet not scripted. He was fun, engaging, helpful, and insured that we had a great time, seeing Italy thru the eyes of someone born in the area and not thru a mass tourist bus. I meant to leave this review a long time ago and realized that forgot to do it. So, Giacomo, mi dispiace! I hope to tour with him again the future and not wait so long, as this was in July 2010. I am glad to see that others are finding him thru Trip Advisor and also having wonderful experiences with him.

If you are like us, you want to have an authentic Tuscan experience without having to wade through all the tourist traps, wait in long lines, or risk going to a place you won't enjoy. We also didn't want to have to rent a car in Italy because of the expense and our unfamiliarity with driving there (the cities can be nightmares to drive in.)

We discovered Ghibellina Tours and we're very happy that we did. Giacomo picked us up near our lodging in Certaldo Alto and then led us on a day-long tour of the Tuscan countryside in his van. We saw wineries, olive mills, stunning views from out-of-the-way nooks that he knew about, and had lunch at a farm where all the food was prepared fresh for our arrival.

Giacomo speaks perfect English, and he is funny and personable. While he was driving us around the countryside, he gave us a lot of interesting history of the region and was happy to answer all of my many questions. He is also an expert on the wine industry in the Chianti region and will provide you with a lot of interesting history about Chianti (the region and the wine!)

He picked us up in Certaldo, but he mentioned that he often picks up other groups from different places around the region, so if you are nearby it's definitely worth checking out. We selected one of his typical pre-arranged tours and were very happy with it, but he is willing to work with you to customize the tour you want. We were very happy with his selections, which included a working winery, a visit to an olive mill (both working farms where the owners/managers personally walked us through the facilities and then sat and tasted their products with us.) He also stopped at a charming little town called Castellina where we walked the streets and browsed the shops. As an extra, unexpected surprise, we visited an ancient Etruscan tomb near Castellina which I felt was one of the best parts of the tour.

It was a great day on our visit to Tuscany, and I would recommend Giacomo and Ghibellina Tours to anyone who wants to see the real Tuscany with a personal tour guide. You'll get the most of your tour if you interact with him and ask lots of questions!

We first met Giacomo when we got his contact and booked him for a day tour to Sienna and San Gimignano. Punctual and polite, he arrived at our villa to pick us up and proceeded to drive us to our destination. Along the way, Giacomo would point out interesting sights and facts as we sat comfortably in his Mercedes Vito passenger van.

After our first day trip, we couldnt get enough and proceeded to organise more trips with Giacomo. We visited Pisa and Lucca on aother day trip, went to Florence twice for day trips, Villa Basilicca up in the mountains for the chestnut festival, Chianti for farm tour and olive oil farm visit with tasting of wine and oil.

Giacomo is very professional in his services and yet every so friendly. He is also very prompt in his email replies. If you are looking for a personalised chauffeur and day trip service, it really dosent get any better than this!
