Certaldo was a surprise. Barely mentioned in Michelin, it is a walled city that reeks of authenticity. We only found it on referral from our innkeeper and it is best reached by a cable car ride up the hill on which it sits. Taverna is located on the walls, with a spectacular view of the valley below. It was a great spot for a romantic dinner. Each of us had a local pasta dish, mine was shrimp and delicately flavored. My wife had a mediterranean pasta. Both were made with the special local noodles which, for want of better Italian, I'll call fat spaghetti. Both dishes were delicious. The value was excellent, as well. Highly recommended.
