“A wonderful location”

This lovely resort encompasses the Tuscan dream. Our holiday was lovely, with stunning scenery, amazing local restaurants and not far from a local town for purchasing supplies. The proprietor is a lovely lady, very willing to accomodate and the apartments are decorated to an excellent standard.
I would recommend this resort very highly to friends and family.

If you want breathtaking views of rolling Tuscan hills, a lovely house with huge glass doors and windows to enjoy the view, attentive owner and housekeeper, and wonderful local restaurants within a stone's throw, La Poggiolaia is the place for you. This lovely property located in the heart of Chianti is convenient to the beautiful hill towns of Tuscany, Florence, and Siena. It's hard to leave the grounds to see the rest of Tuscany, but do. A wonderful base from which to start.

It is very difficult to put our feelings for La Poggiolaia in words because this place just manages to bring the best out of anyone who will stay in it, and more particularly it triggered in our families such a beautiful synergy that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
We stayed there, during the week of our wedding, with 23 of our friends and family for one week in September. The villa itself, the pool, the lovingly decorated rooms, the hosts (Paola and Sylvia) and the 360 evergreen surroundings are so charming and magical that each and everyone one of us had an extraordinary experience, each one in his own way. You just have to go there in order to experience the emotions, the laughter and the happy tears that we have been through. Chiara and Elena, from WeddingsinTuscany, had helped us find this place. They also helped us with the organization of the details of the wedding and it ended up being even better than anything that we had ever dreamed of. We began the week on Saturday night with a dinner at L'Osteria Del Vicario, which is a gourmet Osteria, near the town hall of Certaldo Alto (where we got married on the Thursday of that week). We then enjoyed a cooking class on the Sunday with Barbara the chef and her sister and her sweet mother. This family of chefs, all while showing us how to make fresh pasta and raviolis from scracth, inspired our guests to reach beyond themselves and find the hidden talents :). It was a great activity to get the families to know each other better, all while enjoying music and dancing on the green lawn in the sun. Later that week, we had the most touching, emotional, and fantabulous time of our lives, getting married in the enchanting medieval town hall of Certaldo Alto, which was a ten minute drive from Lapoggiolaia. We then came back to the villa to enjoy the aperitivo and an unreal sunset that one has never witnessed before. Everyone felt simply at home.. Everyone got comfortable and relaxed and deligheted in a delicious meal prepared by Nello (the caterer) and orchestrated by Ranieri and his band (The musicians). It was unfortunate that we had to use a Gazebo, so I would recommend anyone considering to have their wedding there to do it one week or two earlier to make sure it is not chilly at night. Nonetheless, this did not prevent the dancing and the evening fun that lasted late into the night :) The next day, we had arranged for a Yoga session for everyone to unwind and stretch on the green lawn of the villa and this was, to our surprise, a very popular activity that everyone appreciated as it rejuvenated them after the dancing from the previous night... Also worth mentioning are the daily breakfasts and the brunches (on the wedding day and the aftermath day) that were prepared by Eliza and her assistant, always cheerful with the daily smily buongiorno, so a big thank you to them as well.
Still, please note that all these services, housekeeping, breakfast, brunches, etc..are over and above the price you pay for renting the villa.
All in all, a great thank you to Paola (the owner) and Sylvia (The assistant) who really went out of their way to make sure our stay was a very pleasant journey :)
So simply heavenly is all that we can say

Room Tip: As a couple, we initially decided to stay in Roseto, but the best rooms are the top two rooms in Cap...

We rented an apartment from Paola, the owner, months before our stay. The location is close to major highways, either north or south, but remote just the same. The villa sits on a hill with stupendous views of Tuscany. It is an incredible breath taking experience. The apartments are nicely decorated with regional decor and antique furniture. Coffee, bread, jams, wine, etc., are provided on arrival in a big basket. Bathrooms are updated, spacious and light with windows. Doors are glass, updated and provide additional light and views of the landscape. If you are willing to drive through the hills of Tuscany as well as rent a car to get around you should consider La Poggiolaia. Its a great, private place to share memories with family and friends. Also, great swimming pool. There is no maid service during your stay. It wasn't really a problem for us. Sylvia the grounds manager lives on the property and is always available to help with any needs.

We chose La Poggiolaia as the venue for our intimate Italian wedding. It was the best decision we ever made. Both Paola, the gracious owner of the villa, and Sylvia, who was on site to attend to our every need, where the perfect hostesses and made our stay absolutely wonderful.

We stayed for 10 days and were joined by our guests for a week in June 2012 having rented out the entire villa. Everyone was blown away by the stunning location, brilliant facilities and dream setting for a wedding. Nothing was too much trouble and our needs were catered for in every single way. Throughout the process of planning the wedding, Paola was extremely helpful and went out of her way to accommodate us. She made us feel completely welcome in her home and even went as far as providing personalised wine bottles for our wedding breakfast and giving us a beautiful wedding gift.

We will never forget our time in La Poggiolaia and it will be remembered as a special place for us where we spent precious time together with our friends and family in a perfect setting. We would recommend Villa La Poggiolaia without hesitation to anyone thinking of visiting the area. It is perfectly located for trips to Sienna, Pisa and Florence and you will not find a more beautiful setting in the whole of Tuscany.

Thank-you to Paola and Sylvia for everything and we can't wait to come back again soon.

Kathryn & Drew

We stayed in Capanna at La Poggiolaia from May 19 until June 2, 2012. It was the perfect time, with all the roses in bloom. The facilities are terrific, Silvia a marvelous help, the welcoming basket of goodies and wine a treat after a long night and day of traveling. Paola is a gracious host, the scenery extraordinary, and the nearby restaurants a treat. One of the great advantages was easy accessibility to the train station in Certaldo with its quick and easy connections to Florence and Siena. The beds and rooms are very comfortable, well appointed and equipped. Our only "problem" was the need to frequently log back in on the WiFi, but that may have been our own fault. We hope to return soon. Alan and Ellen from Maine.

We were exhausted when we arrived late in the afternoon but we were greeted with a welcome basket filled with everything we would need until we were able to stock up on groceries - the complimentary bottle of wine was the perfect way to relax for the evening. The beautifully groomed gardens were filled with roses and olive trees and the pool was a fantastic way to enjoy the hot afternoon where we brought out a picnic lunch. The accommodations were fantastic - modern, clean and extremely roomy. La Poggiolaia was perfectly situated so that we could see both the hill cities of Certaldo and San Gimignano in the distance. From our front room and back patio we had a majestic view of the Tuscan countryside of olive groves and vineyards. This was our home away from home that was a 30 miniute drive to Florence and other wonders of the area.
