We spent over a week at La Posada Azul and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else in San Juan del Sur. The staff was friendly and VERY accommodating. The ambiance was serene and lovely. Hard to believe we were in the middle of "downtown". The entire Inn was immaculate and loaded with charm. The food was plentiful and so delicious! We'll definitely return.

My wife and I were advised by a fellow traveller to stay at La Posada Azul for our planned one night stay in San Juan del sur. When we discovered how delightful the hotel was we extended our stay to three nights. Everything about the hotel made us feel comfortable- from the friendly, helpful staff, to the cozy beds to the several sitting areas to the chaise-lounges around the beautifully-kept pool area. Being a half block away from the busy beach front is was both handy but also quiet and peaceful. It was within an easy and safe walking distance from two great restaurants - El Colibri and El Pozo.
the breakfast were different each morning - but always with fresh juices and fruits, home-made baked goods and a hot dish.
I could not recommend a hotel more highly.

Posada Azul is a not well advertised favorite of San Juan del Sur locals. We moved there after two days at Hotel Casablanca and experienced better food, greater comfort, and incredible sleep for just a bit more. Just a half block from the beach, Posada Azul is owned, run, and operated by a group of very professional and helpful women. Breakfast, which comes with the room, is fantastic! Try the scones--they are freshly made and vary each day. The rooms are well appointed, quiet, very clean, and comfortable. The pool and honor bar areas provide great places to relax and plan or talk over your day in San Juan del Sur. The boutique is unusual with a strong preference for all things related to Frieda Kahlo. This place is on a street that is currently under construction but don't let that worry you. We were not disturbed by any construction noise or dust. An incredible find!

We spent two nights here and from the moment we arrived the staff and the service were exceptional. They went out of their way to find out the channel for the NFL playoffs and where we could watch in English. When the toilet malfunctioned, they called a plumber who fixed it in no time ON A SUNDAY. The room (#6) was spacious and comfortable. Best breakfast of our entire Nicaragua trip, with homemade muffins or biscuits, huge fruit plate, etc. Lovely pool and comfortable, casual help-yourself atmosphere. Beverages available at all times on an honor system. Just the best.

We asked around in Granada about places to stay in San Juan. Everyone we asked recommended La Posada Azul, so we decided to give it a try.

The entire place was very well kept, wonderful staff, and beautiful rooms. It is right in the center of the town near the beach and restaurants.

My favorite part was breakfast. We were there for 5 days and each morning we were served a new dish. We had the traditional gallo pinto with eggs, Spanish tortilla, and huevos rancheros to name a few. Additionally each morning they serve a fresh squeezed fruit juice and homemade baked goods.

They have lots of books and magazines, but no televisions in the rooms. We welcomed the calm and relaxed get away, but if you require a TV of your own you may want to book elsewhere.

There is a very quiet pool with an honor bar, fresh towels and a palapa as well.

First things first: the breakfasts are AMAZING. Creative, lots of variety, somewhat Mexican-inspired ,with a different fresh-squeezed juice every day and plenty of good coffee. Can't say enough about the staff and their hospitality, especially Maria.

Kick back beside the pool and finish those books you brought with you! Don't worry, time doesn't really matter here...

This is a gem. North American quality and service at a Central American price in an area surrounded by gorgeous scenery, beaches, and a quaint underdeveloped town.
Although this is categorized as a B&B, it's more like a great six-room boutique hotel. True, the breakfasts are astoundingly good, and there is no room-service, but the facilities are in keeping with a much larger property. Huge common areas, with a beautiful pool, honor-system cold drinks, separate lounge with cable TV and DVD's. Wireless internet connectivity throughout the property.
The bedrooms (Casita #6 is the quietest) are a good size with split system silent aircon and ceiling fans. Good new linens and down pillows. This place would do justice to a town like Santa Fe where the owners come from.
The staff are extremely friendly but still efficient in dealing with just about any need. And the town is just outside the door (but a world away if you need to escape). For restaurants, try El Timon on the beach for seafood, and El Colibri 4 blocks inland by the church for the best Mediterranean food at ridiculously low prices.
