Second the former review of "nasty bathrooms" and the room we stayed in had no view. Beds were uncomfortable.

We reserved the suite at the hotel for one night. We arrived early from Granada and the room was not ready, which was understandable. We were told it would be ready in half an hour. 40 minutes later, it was another 10 minutes, then after 10 minutes, we were told it would be another five... Finally she came to tell us the room was ready. I was totally sympathetic that we were there early and not her only concern. The room smelled fresh when we arrived, like it had just been polished. The ceiling was raised and covered in wood; very charming. When we stepped into the bathroom, we could not help but notice all the crumbs of something on the floor and overall how dirty it seemed. We were desperate to hit the beach by this time and left it. Since we did not complain and ask to have the bathroom cleaned again, we suffered through it. Those who chose to shower anyway wore their flip flops.

The front area of Hotel Casablanca was beautiful. There are hammocks and rocking chairs, etc. It is right across the street from the beach and right in the middle of everything. We spent the day at the beach and ate lunch and dinner in the restaurants along the beach. We took the tour to La Flor that evening to see the baby turtles hatching. We returned around midnight and pulled back the sheets on the king size bed, only to find they were covered in blood (stains??) These were little dots of blood all over the sheets, which set in paranoia about bed bugs... The two sleeping in that bed chose to sleep on the covers vs in the bed. After an uncomfortable night, we were relieved not to be covered in bites the next morning.

Breakfast was included, but not very good. We walked to the Espresso bar for some good coffee and a muffin afterwards.

So my family and some friends came down to visit and we when down to spend a few days on the most beautiful beach in Nicaragua. We made reservations from Granada by phone and we were set. Off to San Juan, knowing it was high season we knew it was necessary to make reservation. I had read the Trip Advisor comments and thought the place looked decent. We got there tired after traveling and went to check in and we found out that our reservation had been given away. We spent the next three hours finding somewhere to stay. We found that four other tourists had the same experience with Casa Blanca. Avoid the place if you can. If you get lucky and find room there it may be nice, but dont trust the reception when you make reservations and surely dont count on have reservations when you get there. There are many beautiful place for cheaper and they treat you like human. Find somewhere else....

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights during the Easter holidays. We weren't aware of the popularity of the SJDS during the holy week, and thankful they had reserved our room with just an email. The location is central to the town and bars and restaurants. I am not sure if it was just for holy week, but the hotel also had security.

The free breakfast was fresh and good, and they were generous to allow free use of their computer. The pool in the courtyard is quite small, but refreshing on a hot day. The people at front desk didn't speak English but still helped us set up a canopy tour and took messages for us.

The rooms are a bit noisy, but since it is small their aren't too many guests to make noise. The aforementioned guards also watch some questionable programming late at night.

Overall, a good experience and worth the price.

Steps from the Beach. In the thick of restaurants and bars. Rooms where kept neat by the same very charming and energetic women who made you the complimentary breakfast in the morning starting at 7am; Eggs your way, gallo pinto ( nica rice bean sidedish) , good coffee , fresh fruit and lite toast usually white one side unless you ask for different.

Front desk staff seems to be trained to make sure you are paid upto date. They do get things done in "Nica time" and seem less passionate than the girls from housekeeping. Still adequate.

Nice courtyard with an unheated smallpool with jets. No charge for internet on a good computer.

Bank machine in front has a security guard nearby and treats you fairly. I spent enough time on the nearby comfortable hammocks to have kept an eye on the situation.

Check the Electrical shower heads before you use for any faulty wiring.

The noise of the night life from this surfer town can be heard in the rooms until late and a nearby dog may still be waking folks up early. It is a place where you may want to be up early, go for Siesta and drink in the atmoshpere that the surfers create into the late anyway. If this case ask the girls to clean your room after you have breakfast and leave, 20 cordobas or about a buck should get that done, but it wouldn't be nescessary.

The $10 water taxi ride up the Nicarauguan Rivera to two beaches that start with an "m" is a fantastic deal, secure your ticket the day before or about 9am for a 11am departure. Take a camera if you like pretty pictures.

$10 more and you can spend the day at the beautiful Pelican Eyes Resort at the 3 infinity pools. The view is crazy nice. Plush towel included. Pay your $10 to the front desk and get psyched for the uphill stair hike to the top pool, well worth it. A good lunch might cost you $20 though.

  • Liked — The Location and housekeeping staff
  • Disliked — At times, the night noise but the stagger home after the surfer bar was convenient.

stayed here with friends 21/11 - 25/11. three of us had a nice, bright, clean room with a large outdoor patio and comfortable beds. a/c worked well when needed and the large fridge was a helpful convenience. didn't try the tv at all. proximity to beach, bars, restaurants, stores, etc is great.

i didn't try the breakfast, but the other two both seemed pleased with fresh fruit, juices, eggs, etc.

we had another group of three with us who got a separate room, which seemed adequate but a bit darker due to fewer windows and no patio.

there are a few quirks that come along with casablanca...water simply shuts off for occasional brief periods, the water pressure (shower) is minimal and our shower head had cold / medium / hot settings, the hotel goes into lockdown overnight and you sometimes have to wait a minute for someone to come let you in.

our specific room was directly adjacent to the breakfast courtyard. this means lots of light and glimpses of the ocean, but a good bit of morning noise.

the first couple nights/mornings i was awakened by roosters crowing around the neighborhood. i doubt this specific to the hotel...but something i found both amusing and annoying.

bottom line, a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. we enjoyed the hotel.

My friends and I were visiting the town and found that the town to be beautiful and relaxing. After seeing a few hotels, we found this gem. We stayed in the two bedrooms with the balcony. The room was gorgeous, the beds were comfortable, and the location is spectacular. The price was unbelievable! I couldn’t believe that I only paid $102 for one night.

I recommend this hotel highly. Please remember that most places do not have hot water but Hotel Casablanca does a good job with making the water warm. There is cable, a small pool, and 1 computer with the internet. Overall, next time we go to Nicaragua, we want to return and we would love to stay at this hotel again.
