Come for a day and stay a week like I did. There are several shiny pretty places to stay. So why stay here? Camping Madera/Cafe Revolucion is Nicaragua. If you are wanting to step beyond being a tourist and truly enjoy this country in the raw. Then this is the place for you.
First off they are a COOP, in other words, a community. It's also home to several youth betterment programs. Yes, the artwork is for sale. Local surf instructors are always on hand or just rent a board and prepare to be picking up a new hobby. Who needs a therapist with waves like these.
The cafe itself acts as a common place, hosting mingling of all sorts. Group meals and happy hour cocktails just seem to magically happen.
Post up for a sunset dinner and be sure to order the locally caught whole fish and a tona or two. Just be warned you too just might be changing your ticket.
