Thank you Baba for a great stay. We will never forget your amazing place! A real treasure:) Rooms very clean, amazing views. So worth the 5min walk to town. Perfect place to chill out. Oh and thanks for the Spanish lessons! Pura Vida

Feel in love with this place with the gorgeous views. A bit of an uphill hike from town but worth it to be out of the main downtown area. There is no wifi, which was a bit of a bummer after having it on all our other accomodations, but we used that time to relax on a hammock (there are at least 5) and drink a Tona. Great place. Private rooms upstairs are amazong. It can be a bit windy (ok gusty) at times but this place is so worth it. No breakfasts offered, but there is a community kitchen.

When my friend and I first arrived, we were both a bit worried about it's location. We had got a taxi to it, and thought it seemed a little way out of town, but we went inside, really liked it and decided to stay. And really pleased we did - it actually isn't far at all, only 5 minute walk to the beach, and close to other backpacker places which we saw were a similar price to this and when we had a look inside those, they seemed no where near as lush inside as Buena Onda. The view from the hotel is AMAZING (the picture I have attached just doesn't do it justice), and there are hammocks and chairs that you can sit on, have a drink and admire it from. Our room was really nice - nice and spacious, and a massive bed! The bathroom was done really nicely and with character too. And to top it off, the guy who owned it was such a nice guy, and was willing to help you with any travel tips / where to go next / how to get somewhere etc. He was always about if you needed something - he came and made me a coffee when I was out on my laptop at 6am when I couldn't sleep. All this, and it was still so cheap. All round - lovely place, brilliant value - definitely recommend! Good for couples or with friends.

This hostel was incredible. Beautiful, new, spacious, friendly.. all you can ask for. There is a convenient, accesible community kitchen area as well as the most beautiful balcony with the best views of the city. Baba is very accomodating and full of information and tips about things to do here in San Juan del Sur as well as getting around the country in general.

What has been said before about dogs and roosters at night is totally true. Yes. From about 3 am to 6 am its quite loud. But for the value and the excellent rustic, zen vibe of the place.. take a nap on the beach in the afternoon to make up those missed hours of sleep.

I would definitely stay here again. Loved it!

Room Tip: Easy to book online.

I stayed at Buena Onda for a week. The rooms are great, really clean and the bay views from the terrace are amazing! The owner, Baba, is very friendly. Hung out with him a couple of times and was really fun. Definitely the best option in San Juan.
