“Underwhelmed”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

I was expecting a delightful treat, but instead was a bit disappointed. The location is nice as it's on the beach and on the end where it is more quiet which sets it for a romantic air. Service was nice, but not so helpful. (language barrier perhaps?... which I blame myself for) We had paella, mussels and tapas sampler which did not meet my expectations. The paella was a bit "fishy" and if it is fresh seafood, you know it shouldn't be this way. Taste was lacking in the mussels. The price was not on par with the food.

“Great for sunset tapas.”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Lovely beach location, great ambiance, ok service. Paella was yummy but low on protein...definitely recommend the pan fried squid as an appetizer, however the "tapas sampler" was smallish and disappointing. Recommend as a tapas stop for a sunset cocktail...then move on.

“Great Beach Restaurant”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

The paella was very good. 4 of us dined at Meson and each tried a different paella, all were great, no to go leftovers for us, we all ate every bite. The sangria is good too!

“Delicious Paella!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Came for lunch on our way into Playa del Coco (San Juan del Sur). The paella was delicious. Very authentic (tastes just like mom's!). Enjoyed the paella with some Sangria.

The restaurant is small and you are right on the beach. Warning: on windy days the sand flies up from the beach and will come up onto your table if you are seated on the lower level.

Service was good.

They have a second location in Managua at the Galleria.

“not enough vegetarian options”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

The beach setting is the nicest part of this restaurant. Despite the extensive menu, there are very few vegetarian options. We had tapas with manchego (?) cheese as an appetizer and had to ask for more bread, no easy task when the waiter was not anywhere to be seen. It cost $8 or $9 (including tax) for a few slices of cheese, white bread, and aioli. The steak with goat cheese sauce was good, but uncooked in the center.

The atmosphere is enjoyable but the menu needs some tweaking. It is difficult to find vegetarian options in this town.
