Great bread and baked goods. All made using a wood-fired oven in a cosy little setting at the centre of San Juan del Sur.

After weeks of living of Gallo pinto, we decided to splurge and buy the chocolate chip cookies we could smell as we walked back from Spanish Ya! classes. We gobbled the soft, chewy cookies down in one inhale of a bite and the sweet loafs starting calling our names! Classic banana and carrot loaf were on the shelf but we gambled with mango and hut the jackpot! Moist, sweet with chunks of juicy mango...we ate the whole loaf in just one night. We went back each night and tried a different loaf-however mango is the hands-down winner. Costs around $7. Their flat breads with garlic topping is worth the $. Crunchy edges with chewy interior

Probably no business in town has suffered more this past month and a half from road construction than this first-rate bakery. You have to pick your way through dozens of yards of ditches and muddy debris before you can climb up about three feet to the shattered sidewalk and collapse through the doorway, where the $7 a loaf banana bread is. On a positive note, they are this year often surprisingly well-stocked late into the afternoon.

A little off the beaten path, (perhaps because of the construction that was going on) but don't be deterred. Amazing bread and outstanding service. A little spendy but for good artisan bread, well worth it!

Not only are the breads , cookies and fruit loaves delicious and healthy, it is a small haven of comfortable rocking chairs , a feel of home, a meeting place where the owners are always welcoming with warm smiles and they always take the time out of their busy schedule to have a chat. Be prepared to fall in love with their cinnamon buns!
