“Animal Abuse!”
Review of Manting Park

Upon deciding to visit the park we were unaware we would be experiencing full on animal abuse and cruelity! The most shocking was the treatment of the elephants DURING the performance. The elephants were not given commands without the use of a BULLHOOK, either being hit with maximum force by the handle or the hook itself. The elephants showed immense amounts of anxiety, stress and poor life. Once the show was over the elephants were chained directly to the ground, given no space at all to move around. The only moving they did was intense swaying and rocking which is due to poor life, anxiety and depression. The monkies were all caged in small concrete cages with barely any space to move and with no toys or aparatus to play on. The peacocks were caged this same way.. no natural surroundings. The peacocks were also controlled by a large bamboo stick swung in the direction to keep them away from the open door. Many of the peacocks were missing majority of the feathers on their bodies. NO ONE SHOULD SUPPORT THIS FACILITY. We are in modern times, even in China. People need to learn that this is NOT A ACCEPTABLE way to treat animals. Let alone ones on the brink of extinction!!!!!!!!!

The park is ok, but not worth to pay any entrance fee. But the white pagoda is nice uner the blue weather. And the elephant performance was only soso, not so interesting.

This is famous in China for it's exceptional teas. Just like Monteray California is known for wines, Pu're is known in China for the tea grown here. Very easy to fly into this modern city with a very ancient past. The mushroom restaurant is a must to experience with wild harvested and exotic mushrooms of every kind you can imagine...tasty too!

Fairly quiet for a Chinese park but little to see there other than the regulation cruelty to birds show and an elephant display that my companion enjoyed and was well managed.
