We visited Labrang Monastery as part of a group and had a lovely local guide who spoke reasonable english and let us stay inside for a short while when prayers commenced. We heard the throat singing and it sent shivers down my spine. The decoration is wonderful and well cared for. Lots of work is going on outside and it is very dusty especially for the pilgrims prostrating themselves along the roads. For a tourist this is a fascinating place and should be high on the list for China tours.
