Our tour with Wandhikhar from Nomad Travel (Nirvana Hotel) was outstanding! We learned about the lives of people who tend the yaks and sheep, visiting the home of a grassland family and enjoying the hospitality, yak milk tea, tsamba, and other treats. Got to hike along a ridge with a magnificent view, though the wind was pretty fierce that day.

There is nothing authentic. It is just a fair for Chinese tourist. You have fake nomad tents where you can spend the night in the middle of drunk Chinese tourist, you can ride a limping horse, you have stuffed mastiff dogs (I haven’t seen the life one), you can buy some overpriced tourist junk you easily can find at halve price in Labrang city.
We were there for 30 minutes and my fellow travellers just begged me to leave instantly.

Ganjia grassland is better than Sankhe grassland. You can still enjoy Sankhe if you go away from the tourist resorts they have made there. Good thing about the tourist resorts is you can eat a decent meal in one of the tents, and later go horse riding if you are up to it. But you can enjoy the countryside if you go further away from the resorts, we did that and did enjoy

Experienced the natives culture by joining in dances and singing with them. However they seemed easily offended by some of our day to day normal activities and quickly became a bit hostile.

Beautiful area complete with walled villages and temples. Worth a peak if you have the time. The road was a little rough as like everywhere in China it was under construction
