Really stunning place and well worth seeing...but oh soooo pricey!
Probably over sold on the web site. Chalet was very small but comfortable. Not enough place for more than 2 people. Food was good. Surroundings stunning.
Staff very avarage. Would be a great place at 1/4 of the price.
Remote and quiete. Getting there was quite fun with 50 km gravel road and the Kat-bakkies pass.

Room Tip: Enough said

This is the most wonderful little place we visited, the beauty of the Koue Bokkeveld is stunning, the food fantastic and the peace absolute bliss. The staff are friendly and really good, service is excellent and the cave rooms fantastic. This is a definite place to go back to time and again, the peace is just so fantastic, away from the noise of the city, we heard black back jackals crying early in the mornings, what a lovely sound! Wish I could retire there!!!

Room Tip: If you like nature etc. the cave rooms are great! I thought it was so cool!!!

First piece of advice if you want to come here - as for a [big] discount. Mind you, even with 50% off the published price it still felt waaay too much for what you get.

- location is out of the way but that's what you're going there for isn't it? No specific need for 4x4 but one of these would give you more freedom to explore the reserve by yourself
- accommodation is simple and okay (scraping the bottom of the barrel for 4 star quality though)
- food is passable but isn't going to win any awards (not as bad as some reviews suggest)
- 'game' drive is a bit of misleading term. a nice drive around our property on which you may see one or two animals might be a better description
- the cave art etc. is worth going to look at and the star gazing is good as there's pretty much zero light pollution

A nice spot to visit and the intention of the owners is good, they just need to tone down the price (a lot) and give the place a little bit of a revamp

Our family spent three days here. It is a long drive on a gravel road-somewhere around 50-55 kilometers.
Fantastic views of the Karoo and great rock formations. The facilities of this place are a bit dated and the food is good. The price? Expensive! I understand why it would be a bit expensive considering how far you have to travel to get to a simple grocery store - but all the same your going to drop a small fortune.

Room Tip: Caves are fun for the kids.

Kagga Kamma is extremely over-priced for what you get. The "cave" rooms are cramped and uncomfortable. Ours faced west, so by mid-afternoon we had to draw the curtains in front of the sliding door because the setting sun blasts in like a furnace - there should be a shaded overhang or something in front. Food was good but expensive. Every little extra costs a lot and they don't tell you the price up-front - you just get presented with a huge bill at the end.

We thoroughly enjoyed Kagga Kamma. However, we bought it on a half price special deal… and for that price it was OK. If, however, we had to fork out their asking rate, I would have been gutted!

The food was excellent and the service was very good. However, the cave rooms are dated. 1990s sales gimmick that’s become a bit tacky. The rooms (fibreglass shells) … its just not my type of thing. Its fake.

We did spend one of our nights at the “Outcrop”, an outdoor luxury room. We had to fork out an additional +- R1000 per person for the night (charged extra to your account). It is very expensive, but very beautiful. Stars as only the karoo can provide.

My advice… go if you get a (very) good deal. There are many other beautiful places in the cederberg/karoo area that gives you more for less.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, dont miss the "Outcrop". Its stunning. Dont stay in the caves. Do s...

We were so disapointed with Kagga Kamma, the pictures on the website are fantastic and in truth the drive and the location are very beautiful. But that's where it ends - this place advertises itself as 4 star and charges accordingly and it's not! Totally overpriced and rundown ( we were in a "newly refurbished"!) The open air dinner location is fantastic and the service very nice but the food was inedible - on one night we had steak that was tenderised but could have actually been car tyre rubber...awful. Conversations with other guests unfortunately gravitated towards how poor this reserve actually is. I just wish we had paid more attention to the reviews in trip advisor and gone elsewhere.
