“Nothing beets Mose's hospitality”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

I've stayed here a few times over the past couple weeks and really fell in love the atmosphere and constant supply of beets and Mose. Waking up to Mose staring at me is truly something that I will never forget.

I would highly recommend this place to anybody interested in learning about beet farms and/or love Mose.

Bonjour Sword 2011,
Cordialement.

Quaint Tuscan farmhouse, stayed in the irrigation room and it was a delight. Great hosts and also accommodated to out German aunt who traveled with us. It was also 100% wireless which was a great extra. The table making demonstration made us want to make our own tables. overall a brilliant stay would recommend 10/10.

I was very impressed the accomodations and ambiance of this place. When we arrived we went through a delousing procedure, in which we were hosed down. Shortly afterwards they rubbed an organic natural pesticide that smelled of beets to make sure that no guest would bring bed bugs into the world class resort, as the owner Dwight told us Schrute farms is famous for their legendary beds that are passed down from genration to generation, and that his great grandfather and his favorite horse actually passed away on the bed I was to use. We were served breakfast in a barn by wait staff he called Beetnicks. My meal was a variety of beets. I went on the land cruise shortly afterwards, which was a ride on some form of a large tractor while they served us Beet wine although it was much stronger than wine I think it was distilled, they also used it as fuel for the tractor. My ride back to the airport was the finishing touch a man named Moses dragged me home in a rickshaw because the horse they usually use was pregnant. A women named Angela came along for the journey because 12 of her cats needed to go to the vet on the way, they were all friendly however so it was really not an issue. If you have any doubts about this place you should erase them from memory, it is a unique place with it's own culture and customs that cant be beat, I shed a tear when I left.

Room Tip: Pick the room next to the stable, the chickens are a wonderful alrm clock because you dont want to m...

I had a very enjoyable stay at Schrute Farms. The positive reviews on TripAdvisor were spot on, as my entire group had a great time. The best part of the trip was meeting the passionate staff and getting hands-on experience working the farm.

Beet juice! Helps with health. Improves long distance running performance. Kids loved the farm animals. Mushrooms in the forest nearby, the hosts helped us sort out edible ones from the rest. All in all, great stay,

Having previously stayed on a European beet farm, and having read such wonderful reviews, we decided on Schrute farms for our most recent beet-tastic adventure. Boy, were we not disappointed!

We were given a glass of complimentary beet wine on arrival, and a wonderfully enthusiastic, yet quiet young man ran our bags up to the room.

We were taken to the irrigation room. It was warm, with a gentle hum. Plenty of pipes to hang clothes on!!

The manager, Mr Dwight Schrute, taught us how to whittle, which was fantastic. I now know how to carve a wooden knife, should I ever need one! That's the kind of experience that lasts forever, and you can't put a price on that! Sadly, due to the time of year, the weather was unkind so we went inside and played parlour games with the other couple staying there, and Mr Schrute. We played all the favourites... Guess how old this beet is, who died in this jacket, and my favourite, bobbing for beets!

We had a fabulous night of sleep. Sadly, Mr Schrute was unavailable for story reading, however, we fell asleep to some gentle moans, and the sounds of nature.

Breakfast was, of course, boiled beets and turkey jerkey! We were offered a glass of beet beer, but had to decline as we were driving on to our next destination after breakfast.

A stay at Schrute farms will not disappoint. Book now to avoid disappointment!

Room Tip: The irrigation room was a dream to sleep in. We can't speak for the other rooms, but that room w...

I decided to treat my friends to the beautiful, bucolic, bounty of a beet-treat breakfast at Schrute Farms and good old gutenpraken time was had by all. The beet bus shuttle bus from Wilkes-Barre International Airport brought in the dignitaries from all across the globe in style. The fall foliage down scenic Governor Casey Highway was a real treat for those from the tropical climates who marveled at the colors. A stop at the scenic overview led some to exclaim how tiny the towns of Olyphant and Throop look from above. Once at Schrute Farms, the free breakfast beckoned the hungry travelers. The Italian delegation was happy with the Beet Frittata while the French fawned over the Beet Quiche, The Germans felt right at home, if home was the 1800s and marveled at the ecclesial dialect of the Schrute's unique phraseology. The irrigation room was flooded with requests and many had to settle for the outbuildings such as the barn, the stables and beet field side cabana. After vittles the craftsmanship of table making was something of interest to all. The Civil War re-enactors were also there to give us a clue into the special place Schrute Farms has in the region's history, everyone enjoyed it, except Dwight did look a bit uncomfortable. The reciting of works from "Blade of Beets", the period poetry of disserting soldiers on holiday at Schrute Farms during the Civil War made for an intriguing look into the past-times of the AWOL of long ago. At night around the campfire the delightful interjections of Dwight, saying, "False..." and giving us esoteric agricultural tidbits of folksy beet farming ways, really kept most of us awake mere seconds until the call of our beds, haystacks or cabana chairs called us away to slumber, to dream of beets bouncing in our heads. It was so nice to have Happy Birthday sung to me in the rustic 1800s Plattdeutsch of the Schrute's obscure but pious sect. The blessing of the beets at the local chapel was a highlight of that Sunday. A birthday bash hard to beet as the minister belted out in blessed Plattdeutsch blessings on the bounty of beet varietals by name! Dwight was heard to mummer false as the elderly minister got a bit confused on some of the more heirloom varietals, but none of that was lost on the International delegates who felt a sort of awe for the yesteryear quality of the liturgy.
