the food and experience here was awful. when we walked in, they were very busy, so it took us about 15 minutes of waiting to get seated. not a problem- i understand busy, and it was only two of us so the wait wasnt much. during that time we looked at the menu so we would know what we wanted once we sat. our waiter sat us and took our order, and that was all we saw of him for the next 30 minutes. occasionally he would put another refill of our drink on the table, but he never once asked how we were, told us his name, nothing. when he brought our appetizer (crab dip, after 30 minutes of waiting!), he put he plate down so fast and hard that the chips went flying. and he STILL didnt say anything! just cleaned up one of the chips that got on the table and walked away. as i said before, it was busy when we came in, but by the time we got our dip it had settled down a lot. we were seated in the dining room area and didnt see him waiting any other tables. we were literally his only table, and he still couldnt be bothered to show us any courtesy.
things went downhill fast- our dip bowl was so hot we nearly burned ourselves, but the middle was stone cold! they must have microwaved it and not even stirred it so it heated through. on top of that, it tasted like tuna, nothing like crab. 30 minutes later, we received our food (meatloaf sandwich and an open face pit beef sandwich with onion soup drizzled on top) which was also completely cold. how long was it done for it to be so cold?! it had to have been sitting there forever. for the meatloaf, it didn't suffer too badly. it was still cold, but at least there was no gravy or anything to make it nasty. the portion was decent. it was pretty mediocre, and halfway through my boyfriend stopped eating because it wasn't very good cold. my sandwich was inedible. the bread was soaked entirely through with soup- not what i consider "drizzled". if it had been hot, it probably wouldn't have been as bad, but it was absolutely devoid of any heat. the beef was totally over cooked, and the "caramelized" onions on top weren't crispy at all, they were limp and soggy. combine that with the tiny saucer of chips too salt laden to eat (literally, i picked one up and had to shake the excess salt off to even attempt, and i like chips!) and it isn't a pretty picture. i pushed all the bread off onto one side, and tried to at least eat the meat/onion soup/mushroom mixture, but it was so gross. i wanted to ask our waiter if we could get a replacement, or maybe talk to a manager, but we honestly didn't see him all night! there were others who were clearly waiting their tables well, so i don't know if he was just a crap waiter. about 20 minutes after we got out food, he dropped the check and two to go boxes off with a "no rush folks have a nice night!" all cheery like, the first words he had spoken since we ordered, probably because he wanted a good tip, but STILL walked away basically as soon as he did! it was 38 and change for the meal, very over priced, (around 9 for the dip, 12 for mine, 10 for his, and 3 or 4 bucks per iced tea) and by that time we were so exhausted by the experience we just left $40 and got the hell out of there. we reheated the leftovers later in hopes it'd be alright, but it just left us feeling sick and ruined our night out =[ i work in a restaurant that is inundated by tourists in the summer, so i understand being busy, having not enough help, ect ect. however, we have NEVER set out a cold dish or ignored a customer. if we had at least had a server who was attentive and willing, it would have been completely different. i am really not an incredibly picky person, but this experience just ticked me off. i shouldn't have to pay so much money for food and service that makes me feel like my being there is a burden on the establishment. i would honestly have rather eaten at mcdonalds.

Duke's came highly recommended and the food did not disappoint. The service was lacking some, the servers almost seemed like they couldn't be bothered to be helpful, but the food made up for it. I had a crab dip quesadilla which was bigger than my head. I could only finish half, it was so big. We tried to sit ouside on the glider tables, but the flies were so bad and the sun was setting right in our eyes that we had to go back inside. I would go back for the food, but the service needs a bit of work.

Extensive menu. If you can't find something on this menu, you have a problem. Food was prepared well. Portions were quite large and value was excellent. Only problem was with unprofessional service. We might have been more critical because we are in the food business.
