Should have booked this hotel first. Came here after a horrible evening at the HIX in hummelstown (checked in at 11:45 pm) Clerk was very helpful and got us the last room they had. Every member of the staff we encountered (sorry can't remember their names) were always willing to help. Breakfast was decent and the beds were WONDERFUL. THIS WILL BE MY FIRST CHOICE !! on a return visit

Rooms were very clean. The workers could no be nicer. The manager Scott was the most helpful with park passes and dinner reservations. He was very approachable and always willing to help all guests all the time. Great experience. Minutes form Hershey Park. There are plenty of places to eat; all are reasonably priced perfect for family dining.

It has been 40 years since I last visited Hershey, PA. But my wife and I wanted to take our 10 year old daughter to experience it. We would be staying from Saturday night through Wednesday night. Upon check-in, the front desk staff was courteous and asked whether we had a floor preference (likely because we were staying so long). Since some reviews of this hotel indicated the pool odor was a concern on the first floor, we choose the 3rd floor. It was close to a stairway and down the hall from the elevator. There is only 1 small elevator for this hotel. At times, it would take a while to reach us, but we typically used the stairs.

The suite was small in comparison to other suite hotels we've stayed in, with no full/closable partition between the "family room/kitchen" and bedroom, but that was okay. Would have been nice since we stayed up later than our daughter, who slept on the sofa bed. Being that it was a fairly small suite, when the sofa bed was open, it was really impossible to walk around it from the master bed to the kitchen area. Of course, there's nothing Springhill can do about this, but I wanted to note it. We rarely watched TV (it was an HDTV, but programming was definitely not in HD...just stretched to fit. Again, not a real issue). The room was clean and beds were comfy. Our daughter slept very well on the sofa bed. There was a sink which was separate from the shower/toilet room. The only issue with the room was the towel rack (metal) falling apart. It just needed tightening up with a screwdriver and after calling down to the front desk prior to going out for dinner, it was fixed by the time we returned. Next to the master bed was a iHome clock radio that can charge an iPad, iPhone, etc, and you can even wake to your device's music. Nice touch.

The kitchenette consisted of a dorm-room sized microwave, dorm fridge (no real freezer), and small single well sink, along with a coffee maker (can produce hot water for tea), condiments, and counter space. Since our stay was quite a few days, a larger refrigerator would have been nice, since we brought back leftovers from our eating out.

There is a complementary breakfast in the mornings, but we had visited the nearby Giant Foods grocery store for breakfast stuff. I did visit the breakfast in the lobby once and it had a good selection of cereals, yogurt, juice, fruit and a couple of hot options. I think anyone would have been able to find something they liked.

The chlorine smell from the pool that some reviewers complained about didn't seem to be that obvious, except on a few occasions...and even then, it wasn't horrible. Just typical of having an indoor pool on a major hallway next to the elevator. The pool itself was tiny and the water was very chilly (the entire time we were there). With another family with 2-3 kids in the pool, we found ourselves not really enjoying the pool much. There was a hot tub, but it wasn't working on one day and my wife said it was on when she went to the pool a few days later. There is an exercise room but we didn't utilize it.

There is an antique auto museum next door to the hotel that charges for admission but really has a nice collection. It is partially assisted by the Smithsonian. We visited it on the last day of our time in Hershey. They are open from 9-5. HersheyPark and Chocolate World is a straight shot down from the hotel (couple of minutes at the most). A soft-serve ice cream place is next door, but nothing else but nice countryside is in the immediately vicinity.

If you're looking for a great location and a trusted hotel name, Springhill Suites-Hershey can't be beat. The suites could be bigger as could some of the kitchen appliances, but it served our needs during our long stay.

Room Tip: 3rd floor will guarantee no chlorine smell from the pool.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are thrilled you have returned to Hershey after 40 years and allowed us to be of service.

SpringHill Suites is the brand chosen by Marriott as a Studio Suite allowing an open concept without dividing walls or doors between sleeping and living areas. As a result our room sizes are 25% larger than most standard room types. With several persons moving around the room or while the sleeper sofa is being used, I can see your concerns with floor space.

While our microwave/fridge are standard for the SpringHill Suites, please do not hesiate to ask our staff in the future for some additional refrigeration/freezer space should you need anything

I would like to encourage you to return in the Fall for HersheyPark in the Dark or over the holidays for Christmas Candylane and Sweet Lights. Feel free to contact me to discuss a return trip to our area.

Wishing you "Sweet" Hershey Memories!

We had a business meeting in the area and we were housed here. Location was convenient from the airport, and close enough to Hersey Park. No restaurants close enough if you don't have a car but you can order takeout and have it delivered.Unit was okay, nothing special. Husband used the exercise room and liked the equipment. Breakfast was too limited, overcooked scrambled eggs and turkey sausage patties plus cereal, fruit, yougert etc.

Room Tip: Upper floor away from the elevators.

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay with us. I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our breakfast. While we are very proud to represent all the Marriott standards for breakfast, we will certainly take your comments to our team regarding the processing time of our eggs and discuss the limitations and possible enhancements.

We are fortunate to be located just 1.5 miles from HersheyPark and it's attractions, and directly beside the Antique Automobile Museum. However we would love for Hershey Entertainment or a land developer to establish a restuarant and services closer to our location to meet the needs of those without transportation. Hopefully this will exist in our future. In the meantime, we will continue to develop relationships with our local restuaranteers that will consider delivery to our area.

We appreciate all your feedback and take your comments seriously. We hope to see you again and welcome the opportunity to be of service.

Wishing you "Sweet" Travels always.

Maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe as a Gold Elite Member I’m just used to my needs being taken care of by Marriott. Maybe I’m just getting old and crotchety. But then again, maybe this property needs to pay more attention to detail.
• Location is GREAT. A few miles down the road from all of the Hershey park attractions and facilities. It is an undeveloped area, so there is nothing other than the hotel, the car museum and an ice cream stand, but in terms of accessibility to the highway, park and parking the property is in a primo spot.
• Front Desk staff is courteous enough, but not necessarily warm or helpful. I was put in a room on the first floor which is unacceptable as my member profile indicates upper floor preference. I understand that a preference is not necessarily a guarantee, but considering there were rooms on the second floor available, it is simply unacceptable for this to have happened. An oversight by the staff, maybe. A lazy staff, maybe. Staying over 50 nights a year at Marriott properties, I come to expect attention to details and in this case I think they came up short.
• Breakfast: standard free breakfast fare, but the staff is OUTSTANDING at keeping the place clean and organized. With as many families and small children that they have running around the property- especially at breakfast time, it is a chore for the staff to keep things clean. There were two young ladies who handled their job responsibilities not only capably, but with sincere grace and professionalism. Imagine having to clean up not only after your own kids, but of 40 other kids. And having to do it quietly, quickly and with a smile- that’s what they do. Oh and by the way people, just because its free doesn’t mean you shouldn’t TIP.
• Rooms are fine and beds were fine. Ipod dock alarm clocks are always a nice touch.
• Pool is indoors, but works well on a rainy afternoon.
• Marketplace has supplies and snacks that you might need. Free coffee and fruit infused water is a nice perk in the lobby.

Overall, it’s a good property. Considering the rates that are available in Hershey, you can’t go wrong with this property. Less expensive than the Lodge, but pricier than the motels off the highway. I probably do have high expectations, but the property should strive to be the best, and I hope they do.

Room Tip: Higher floor facing the museum.

Thank you for your comments, I am very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Please feel free to contact me directly so I may learn some more specifics on your stay and in turn bring these specifics to our team for improvement.

We take great pride in representing Marriott and the standards that are expected of our guests. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our breakfast team, they do work very hard at providing qualilty service and meeting the needs of a very demanding area of the hotel.

We would love to be of service to you and encourage you to consider a return trip in the Fall for HersheyPark in the Dark or in the Winter months for Christmas Candylane.
