We have visited the Hershey Gardens every time we visit Hershey or Lancaster. These gardens take on a different personality with the seasons and the many, many volunteers keep each area in pristine condition. Having visited the Dupont's Longwood Gardens we expected to see the best at Hershey. The gardens are designed to take advantage of the landscape and you can see the Hershey Hotel from several viewpoints within the garden. It is a photographer's dream from the ponds, butterfly house, rose gardens, and flowers of every type. The walk is casual (although some hills) and does not require as much time to cover as Longwood; however, the parking can be tight so get there early. We parked in our RV with no problems.
After our garden tour we had lunch at the Hershey Hotel and walked around the grounds taking more pictures just like we were "paying" guests. A wonderful way to spend the day and make some treasured memories. It is very interesting to see how different Biltmore, Hershey and Dupont created their gardens. Add these three to your bucket list.
