“The Suites at Hershey PA experience”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

My wife and I came to this area for our wedding honeymoon. We wanted to come back to the area to visit again and see/do the things we didn't then. Since then, we are now a BlueGreen owner and use the perks to travel. I would like to give all readers the ups and downs of this place. The ups are 1. location to all the Hershey PA. attractions. You are within a 5min drive or walk (if you prefer) to the main events of Hershey Ave. Your are also within a 1hrs drive of Lancaster Counties heart of the Amish Country and Gettysburg PA historic Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. This area has everything needed for a young family to the empty nesters.
The facility itself!! I have stayed in better units and worse. These units are clean, well maintained. At first, I thought the color choice by the decorator was outdated. Its a brown ish scheme. Different shades of brown on the walls, furniture etc. The kitchen table seats are silver. BUT!!! Come to find out, your in Hershey Chocolate country thus, the color scheme matches the Hershey Chocolates that are produced here. The unit we stayed in is very spacious. Each building has its own parking garage. A recent post stated that the speed bumps are too large. Truth is that the speed bumps are actually used for two purposes. 1. They deter rain run off as the complex is on a slope. Building 1 is at the bottom of the hill next to the check in center. The staff here are very friendly. There are no sales office to pressure anyone into buying anything. There is the outdoor/indoor pool, gazebo, grills, Bball goal, outdoor patio with gas fire pit is cool.
The downs are few but could be annoying. On the back side of the complex are train tracks. Seems like every hour or so, a train is rolling by. The noise penetrates the walls. But the trains are up to speed when they pass by so the longest train take just a couple minutes to pass by.
If your a light sleeper be prepared to be wakened up a few times per night. The only other thing that I can think of is that the master bath of these units have a simple one piece molded fiberglass shower. Your would usually expect a tile type shower for the master but im not complaining, just an observation.

Overall, id say that if your coming to Hershey to vacation, this is an 8 out of 10 stars.
I have a 2014 Battle of Gettysburg Driving Tour for sale if anyone is interested. Gave 30$ used one time, passing along for 28$. This includes shipping. Can do paypal send me an email to

keeping in mind, that I did not pay for the room, it's hard for me to rate the value, so I'll try to be objective. (Covered by 3rd party.)

The property looks nice from the outside (better inside). However the parking area for building #1 has HORRIBLE speed bumps, worst I've ever experienced in my life, I wouldn't mention this except every time we drove in I felt like I was destroying my vehicle, even going extremely slow. "Welcome to our sweet place... before you check in, destroy your car." Location is very near the park, Dunkin Donuts, Red Robin and Wendy's, literally on the same road. I'm not sure if it was just the room or not, but area seemed VERY nice and quiet, so quiet when the ice dropped in the ice maker it would scare you. Location is also right across the street from Tanger Outlets, literally, you could walk across the street.

Anyway, you can get in covered parking area, get in and the place is spotless, very nice art, very clean, suites are AMAZING - granite, $500 faucet, range, toaster, full size fridge, great lighting in the main area, nice blinds with awnings above windows (just the right amount of light), big TV with DVD and open inputs (no TV remote, just comcast and dvd remote, so good luck - Toshiba phone app was a no go as well), laundry in the room (2 comp detergent packs), pitcher in fridge (seemed brand new, label still on), auto ice maker, VERY large bathrooms, granite, great working order (water pressure was slightly low), all kinds of soaps/etc, TV's in bedrooms too, full set of dishes, dishwasher and on and on.

Furniture seems nice, but with an intentional aged looked on some of it. Couches and chairs seem new-ish, just needs some pillow action, but no big deal.

The odd/annoying thing that surprised me was the closets had iron, washer/dryer, broom and towels, but no extra pillows or blankets?! An $80 hotel has extra pillows. I'm sure the hotel would have provided some, but when you realize you're cold at 11:00pm you don't want to get dressed to go deal with that. Speaking of, beds were good, but not great.

This place truly shot for the moon, it's NEARLY perfect, fix the pillow/blanket situation and this will be THE best.

Room Tip: Building #1 (not sure about others) is right next to the railroad, that being said, the rooms seem t...

The Suites were a perfect spot to stay at as my family and I explored Harrisburg, Hummelstown, Middletown, and Mechanicsburg area. The rooms are well maintained and the clubhouse is very friendly and helpful. We were greeted with a handy list of where the closest grocery stores are (warning: none of these sell alcohol, you have to go specifically to an alcohol store). There was plenty of room for our family of 5. We loved having a living area to come "home" to and the gas fireplace put off ample amounts of heat.

We stayed in building 2, chocolate, and were on the 5th floor. This gave us a beautiful view of hills and Troeg's brewery. Every day we were able to look out our window and see deer, foxes, badgers, or geese. The train that seems so commonly a negative on reviews was only heard once. They also have a cute pamphlet in the elevator that talks about how the train is bringing supplies to the chocolate factory and to be happy when you hear it.

Some negatives were that the lights didn't seem quite bright enough in the bathrooms. Also, the wifi never reached our room. We called tech support and the front office multiple times, but after the first few days we just gave up.
I would definitely recommend The Suites to any family or friend that came to visit Hershey, PA.

First impression outside is good but these units (as timeshares) are showing their age. Would be great family location for Hershey Park in summer, Lancaster Amish area & Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. Sign in elevator says they are upgrading all units and entry areas - new carpeting, TVs, etc. Furniture is really in need of replacement & older kitchen appliances. Stark, not cozy décor. Think all units are handicapped accessible which is a plus - in the bath and shower - nice functional features. Some underground parking is also nice feature.
Best plus is location, convenience to the Park and many dining choices. Outlet mall next door.

Room Tip: Near a railroad line so ask for Building #1 - further from rail line; buildings 2 & 3 are closer...

Pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was. We only stayed one night. Wish I had booked it for the whole weekend. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining area, kitchen. Awesome! Loved the pool -- but wish it had been in the same building we were staying in...quite cold to run outside to get to it and back to our room. Hated the train at 3am, but was prepared for it because of other reviews. Wish we could've been accommodated for a later check out since my daughter had an early morning hockey game and it would've been nice if she could have gotten a shower after, but were told no. (They said it was full that weekend, but when I went online there was availability so I think they could've let us extend for an extra hour). Close to EVERYTHING. The outlets are right across the street. Chocolate World is a very short drive down the road. The Hershey Arena and Giant Center were also very close. Would love to stay here again.

Room Tip: If you plan on using the pool, request building two.

We were in Hershey for a Saturday night Bears hockey game so chose to stay at Bluegreen for a Friday and Saturday night. There were five of us: my husband and me, our adult son and two of his friends.

We had a two-bedroom unit in Building 2. This is the building with the gym, indoor pool and game room. We didn't visit the pool, but could see it through the window. It looks like a standard hotel pool-not olympic sized, but people had room to swim in it. The game room had a ping-pong table, foosball an air hockey table and a variety of video/pinball machines around. It was a popular place.

The kitchen was spotless and had full-sized appliances. The living room was cozy with its gas fireplace. The television were all old tube types, not flat screen. Some of the furniture throughout was a bit dinged and needs updated.

There is a sign in the elevator listing all the planned updates for this year, which included new carpet in the halls, flat screened, tvs in all the units and other upgrades. We really weren't concerned about most of this since we really didn't spend much time in the room anyway.

All in all, we felt we got good value for our money. The beds were clean and comfortable. The location can't be beaten-it's close to everything Hershey has to offer.

Yes, the trains. They exist and we could hear them during the daylight hours while we were in the hotel. I'm a very light sleeper, but I guess we were there long enough before going asleep that we got used to the sound before going to bed and had been busy enough in the day that we all slept right through it until morning. It's an individual thing, and none of the five of us was bothered by it.

In all, I feel we got good value for the money.

Very roomy. We had a two-bedroom, two-bath suite that we shared with friends. More than enough room for 4. Full kitchen and living area with gas fireplace. Very nice. Pool area was also nice. We were there in December and one place is a must - go to see Hershey Sweet lights- a drive through, 2 miles of Christmas lights. Fantastic!
