On an otherwise lackluster trip, we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Villa de Calabria. We read a review on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. When we arrived we met Frank, the chef/owner, as he stood outside munching on squash flowers. The dining room sparkles, with white table cloths and linens. The menu was small but included the note to ask the chef for anything we don't see on the menu. We started the meal by sharing Spinach Cakes and Lena's salad and loved them both. The spinach cakes were the creation of Frank and were crunchy, different and delicious and Lena's salad was loaded with great extras including delicious sun dried tomatoes. The bolognese sauce was wonderful and the pasta tasted homemade. Frank made a point of visiting the table and we had a nice long talk about his business, his collaboration with his son and wife, and his travels through our hometown. Frank recommended his homemade tiramisu which was just as good as he said it would be. The whole meal was a wonderful experience. Frank takes great pride in his food and it shows. We wish this was closer to home so that we could go back and try other dishes on the menu.
