“A little gem.”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

The recently remodeled hotel is in what was once a glass factory. The furniture was very comfortable as were the common areas. The staff was extremely helpful and willing to please,

A real treat was sitting outside on one of the decks and enjoying the sight and sounds of the waterfalls. Very soothing!

This is my first trip advisor review. This place was so beautiful! It was incredibly peaceful. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The multi tiered outdoor decks, shared indoor spaces, and 2 story suite were lovely. The furnishings and decor are ultra luxurious. I really loved having access to a small kitchen area and TWO bathrooms. I loved the multi floor approach as well as the enormous windows and very high ceilings. It was a wonderfully relaxing stay. We would return to this location in a heartbeat.

Like others, a Travelzoo deal raised my consciousness to this upstate hotel, framed in a backdrop of waterfalls, nestled among the Poconos in Hawley, PA. The website's photo of waterfalls cascading behind and/or alongside the hotel had me instantly dreaming of a stress-free few days. So I arranged a for a group of girlfriends to escape to the Ledges Hotel and investigate the peacefulness of what turned-out to be the wonderful 'white noise' of falling water , visible from almost every angle of the hotel's outside multi-level decks -----complete with fire pits, tables, chairs, and forest-y ambience. Terri greeted us, gave us a tour, and she and Bill were charming hosts. In fact, all the Ledges staff were courteous and very positive. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with the spiral staircase leading to the 2nd floor where the bedrooms and a full bath was located. The kitchenette, half bath, dining and living rooms were functional for four people. Inside the room, I must admit the spiral staircase was a more romantic prop in my mind than in actuality, because maneuvering up and down was a bit awkward, yet fun at the same time. The upstairs landing was narrow and tight to access the 3 upstairs rooms, but once inside the rooms, all was well. A shout out to watch the hot water temp, on our stay, we found it to go from warm to scalding rather abruptly. The room overlooked the parking lot, but the lot was not as unsightly as many hotels---maybe it was the trees and hill the helped give it some character, but the room was not on the side were you can peer out the windows at the cascading waterfalls. I agree with others though, we saw the waterfalls from the rich experience of the outside decks. We explored the town's antique shops and hotel's sister location. This venue would be wonderful for couples who wanted just to get away and spend quality time with each other.

Room Tip: waterfall side....want romance ask for sunken tub--end, corner room

Thank you for your review of Ledges Hotel. We really feel like curators of this peaceful spot in nature yet adapting an 1890 factory into a comfortable lodging accommodation. We will keep working on suggestions for improvements but so appreciate that you had a restful and rejuvenating retreat, which is our goal!

After reading some of the reviews, I was half afraid of our stay. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a wonderful lady, Terri, and she was as courteous as ever. She checked us in, gave us a tour of the grounds, and sent us on our way. The views out the back of the hotel were beautiful and so serene! I just wish it hadn't rained most of our trip so that we would've been able to sit on the decks with a fire going. The room as we had heard of was small, but not in a bad way. It had everything we needed, and the rain shower was awesome! The bed was so comfortable! Our view was of the parking lot, but we just put down the blinds and we were fine. There are rooms with better views, but since we were there on a Travelzoo deal we weren't going to complain! The pastry breakfast was enough to hold us over until lunch as well. I would recommend this hotel for couples for sure! Just try to time it with some nice weather so you can enjoy the property! Thanks, Ledges Hotel!

This was above average and good. Hawley is a very small town in the Poconos. The location of Ledges is stellar for a getaway if you're in this area. The hotel seems to sit precariouly over the local falls and the view is serene and unique. This was a converted glass factory and the building exterior has wonderful character. Inside you'll find very modern clean lines and great staff. Beautiful common room with a large fireplace and access to large verandas with views of the falls.

We stayed in Room 204, a two floor suite with beautiful views of the waterfall. We have mixed reviews for the room itself. We did like that there were two bathrooms and the concept of upstairs bedroom, downstairs living room. We did not like the rickety spiral staircase because we were not 100% sure that a screw wouldn't bust loose and hold it all togehter; and that it was fairly difficult to manuever our suitcases up and down the narrow spiral staircase.

The whole suite was spacious and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. There are limited amenities in the room besides the view. The bathroom was large and had a great view, but we had to keep the shade down most of the time because it looks out to the falls, as well as the veranda and common areas. We kept getting ladybugs in the bathroom, which was kind of whimsical, but made me wonder where are the bugs coming from? There was a refrigerator, microwave and sink in the living area, so really great for leftovers.

We were in on a weekend when they didnt have many other guests, so it was fairly quiet. However, the walls are not well insulated and very thin, so we can hear people talking and kids in the halls when they did check in on the day before we left. There is no breakfast on the property, but they offer vouchers for purchase to go to their sister property about 10 minutes away "Settlers Inn" which does offer wonderful service and very very good food. Anoter breakfast option is Cocoon Cafe which was a brief walk all uphill for coffee and pastries at the Old Silk Mill.

I did feel that the price was expensive for the room we had and in consideration that it should have been a little more luxurious for the price we paid.

If you're looking for nightlife in Hawley, this is probably it. Ledges has a hopping bar / tapas resetsaurant "Glass". Live Music on weekend nights, we think. Good food, but I would go to Settlers Inn for dinner then return to Glass for drinks and light snacks later in the evening.

Overall a good experience.

Room Tip: Get one of the 2 floor suites - the corner suite would probably be nicer.

Thank you for your recent comments about your stay at Ledges Hotel. We truly appreciate the feedback and will make improvements based on your suggestions. An extensive renovation was done at this facility in 2011 and we would like to assure you that the spiral staircases in all of the suites are safe and strong, albeit the rooms have very tall ceilings so the staircases may seem extensive. The ladybugs you spoke about are a natural phenomanon and quite seasonal - we have been advised that they do more good than harm.... We hope you will return and follow the upcoming improvements at the property.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night with a Travelzoo voucher. We were in a regular room on the first floor without a view of the falls. As previous reviewers have pointed out, it was completely fine with us to not have a view - we were rarely in the room anyways, and we spent most of our time on one of the three decks enjoying the sun, reading, and drinking wine. There is also a beautiful sitting room area that is open to all guests to use and is nice if it is raining or chilly. The room was on the small side, but was perfect for two people (and for one night) - very clean, comfortable chair and bed, nice bathroom and shower. We enjoyed the complimentary coffee, tea and croissants provided in the mornings by the hotel.

We also ate at the Glass Wine Bar/Bistro - sat at the bar and enjoyed drinks and small plates. The place was full of people and had a great atmosphere! The bartender was attentive and the manager was there making sure everyone was satisfied.

My only suggestion to the hotel is that they provide wine glasses in all the guest rooms, or at least put them out in the sitting area for guests to use. We brought a bottle of wine with us, and when I went to ask at the desk for glasses, they told us they could not access the bar and our "type of room" did not have wine glasses in it, and to just use the glasses from the bathroom in our room. Not a problem for us, however, wine glasses can be very cheap to buy and putting two in each room would seem to be a nice touch in the future. My one complaint would be the woman checking us out - I was clearly standing at the desk waiting to check out and she was on the phone having a personal conversation for about 10 minutes. It was an unfortunate way to end our stay, but was just a minor annoyance and did not affect our view of the hotel.

Room Tip: I would suggest requesting a room with a view of the falls, however, it is really not necessary. The...

Staff members were really friendly. We got the first floor room facing the parking lot so had to keep the shades down all the time or everyone can look right in. The room was clean and bathroom was updated. There was a bit of noise, mostly creaking steps, from the hallway when people passed by. We spent most of our time in the common room or out on the deck with the beautiful view of the falls. The free Wifi connection was excellent, and pastry breakfast was provided to all guests.

Only issue we had was our GPS stopping right at the lower parking entrance of the hotel. It was after sunset when we arrived so all we saw was a dead end. We freaked out and thought we were lost until we saw a dim light on the hotel sign. It is much easier to spot the entrance during daylight.
