“A Slightly Different Perspective”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

My daughter and I had the opportunity to get away to the Woodloch Resort over the long MLK weekend. As many have already described, this is a lovely resort with many amenities that we thoroughly enjoyed. What really set this place apart for me was the caring and compassion of the entire resort staff - from the Safety Services team to the front desk.

In traveling to the resort along dark, windy, and slippery roads, our car hit a large pothole with two tires. Being a very small car (Fiat 500), we quickly learned that we had one flat tire, and one badly damaged tire. We were thankfully able to limp the vehicle to the safety of the State Police Barracks for help.

The Woodloch Resort dispatched a Safety Services team member to rescue us (approximately thirty minutes away) and then later returned me back to meet the tow truck. Both TJ and Jim were very kind and caring - there was never any mention of fees for our transportation, only questions of how they could help.

Other members of the Woodloch team learned of our misadventure and followed up to offer their sympathy and well wishes. I could not have asked for more compassion or more help in dealing with this challenge, and I am extremely thankful to all at Woodloch.

Dear LindaENJ,

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort.
One of the benefits of our business being family owned and operated is that it gives us the ability to step outside of “the box” every once in a while. Our company thinks of itself as welcoming our guests into “our own home” and we completely understand that being stranded on unfamiliar roads is an unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, winters in Pennsylvania can take a toll on the roads, and we feel your pain regarding hitting some of those nasty potholes. We were happy to help you arrive safely here on property, and sincerely hope that the rest of your stay enabled you to relax and have fun despite the start. Your kind words have been passed along to the entire Safety Services team.

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to share our hospitality with you, and we hope to see you once again!

Sincerely,
Steve Kiesendahl

Woodloch Pines takes every level to perfection, food, service, lodging, amenities, ambiance. We have been staying there for over 15 years and are very happy to recommend it. The weather even cooperated on this trip by snowing while we were there. Entertainment can range from good to excellent.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice. If you want to save a little, take a cheaper room but we like the Greenbriar (Ma...

This was our third time as a family to visit Woodloch. We have been in the summer, fall and now winter. Each experience was unique and had it's own charm. We enjoy the games and family activities, as well as the dining experience. The food is excellent and there is so much to choose from. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the rooms are super clean. All of the staff is upbeat, positive and they go out of their way to make sure you are happy and enjoying your visit. Kudos to Woodloch and if you have never been, you should definitely try it!

Room Tip: Springbrook and Mt. Laurel are both excellent locations and have a great view of the lake!

Thank you for your recent visit and taking the time to share your thoughts.

We’re glad that you’ve seen some of the “many faces” of Woodloch - we like to think each season has a life of its own and brings a new experience every time. What can I say about Woodloch that probably hasn't been said a million times. You really are treated like a GUEST. My parents started bring me here in the 1970s, and I still go (with a large gap in the middle). What a great place for a family vacation. Lots of activities to keep the kids (including teens) busy, to let mom and Dad relax. Biggest problem? The food is so good you'll probably put on a few pounds

Room Tip: Some of the building (IE Gateway - and cant remember the others) are separated from the main buildin...

Dear Charles G,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on our resort.

We’re glad that despite the gap in stays, you were able to return and find pleasure in all of the things that make Woodloch such a great vacation venue for families. Though the travel industry will undoubtedly change with trends, we will always hold firm in our approach of being the place to unwind and bond with those you love most in the world.

And it’s OK to cheat on diets here. We won’t tell anyone.

What a fantastic place. First time we have been here and we just loved it. The staff is unbelievable, the volume of food is overwhelming, and there is so much to do! We didn't do many of the organized activities/contests but had plenty to do with snow tubing, go-karts, bumper cars, indoor pool, ice skating, character appearances, magic show and horse races. All of it (including food) is included in the price. A very fun weekend! Highly recommend it for families. Our kids are 8 and 6 and had a great time. The room was 'cabin-like' with 2 queen beds and 2 day beds.

This was our very first visit and it will definitely not be our last. From the first phone call to check out, we couldn't have been more please. First the staff, every single one, are very friendly and helpful. Our original check in date had to be pushed back at the last minute because my daughter came down with a fever. After calling for 2 days, the fever finally broke and we were able to begin our vacation! Susan in reservations took care of us and assured us that everything would be fine. Her concern was for our daughter, not that we may have cost them a night or two.

When we finally arrived, our room was ready in the Mountain Laurel building. Plenty of room for our family of 5.

They have characters in the lobby before each meal. My kids loved this as it reminded them of Disney. They looked forward to who was going yo be at each meal. The food was awesome, and there was plenty of it!

There is so much to do here. We participated in many of the daily activities, as i have 3 very active children. The night time entertainment was fantastic and was fun for the whole family.

The pool area was a big hit. The kids loved the kids area, even I liked getting into a water gun fight with my son.

As far as price goes, I find it very comparable if not better than most for all that you get.

My only complaint was at checkin when I saw there were characters for the meals, the gentleman said (not intending but loud enough that my children could here), that they are employees that dress up in the costumes. My kids were so upset that they were not "real". The whole magic of the characters was ruined. They still enjoyed them but just like Santa, you want to hold onto the magic for as long as possible.
My advice is to just say "yes there are characters like Elmo, Woody, Cookie Monster, sponge bob, a minion, Tigger, Alvin, etc.".

It's so nice that in this crazy busy world, there is a place like Woodloch to spend actual quality time with your family. We can't wait to plan our next vacation!

We truly appreciate having your family join us for the first time, and choosing Woodloch. It's always difficult if a member of the family becomes ill right before a vacation, and we are extremely happy that your daughter recovered and you were still able to salvage your stay! As a family-owned resort, we understand how quickly these things can occur. We are glad that you enjoyed the room, meals, and the various activities offered throughout the day. We are terribly sorry for the slight misstep at check-in regarding our characters at every meal; we also enjoy the "magic" of the characters and the smiles they bring to our younger guests' faces. We hope to see you and your family again very soon!

Sincerely,
