“Perfect Relaxation with Lots of Options”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2011

My wife and I took a few days to visit Woodloch. We were very impressed with the nice accomdations, friendly staff and range of activities. The meals were good and we never were bored. Next year, we intend to return with our children and grandchildren. Take a look at their website, www.woodloch.com. It is an accurate description of the resort.

Bob - Thank you so much for the kind words! If you came just as a couple I hope you took advantage of our more mature activities (spa/golf) - but your kids and grand-kids are going to LOVE IT. Thank you again!

Sincerely,
Your Woodloch Family

Bobert - So glad you had a great time. We look forward to your return next year - you know you can have just as much fun in the fall, winter and spring!!!

I hope the 3-star sleep quality was because you were up all night hanging out in the sports bar or north lodge! :)

Sincerely,
Your Woodloch Family

Well, the resort was GREAT... tons to do for all ages, pool, lake, waterskiing, paddleboats, gocarts, bumperboats, shooting range, bingo, texas holdem. I could go on and on, but,
We stayed up the road maybe two miles at Woodloch Springs (houses on the golf course with no meal plan) because it was more reasonably priced. It was really SUCH a hassle to pack everyone and everything up for the day and travel to resort, find parking, schlep cooler, drinks, pool stuff around, I dont think that I will go back. Too expensive for a weekend trip. My advice, if money is no issue, go, stay at resort, you will be happy, but, I dont see how most families can afford to spend $2500 for a weekend in the poconos.

Room Tip: I would only stay at resort, not houses at Springs

My family and I stayed for 4 days and had no complaints. Most amenities were free, such as the pool, jungle gym for the kids, bumper cars, bumper boats, hiking trail, bicycle, and boating on the lake. The service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful. It felt like home. The food was good, old-fashioned American food. It wasn't sophisticated, but everything was prepared well and the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. They bake their own bread everyday and make their own ice cream so how bad can it get. I would highly recommend it to families with children since there are just so many activities your children can be doing there without costing you an extra penny. The overall rate is kind of expensive, but for a New Yorker, it was worth it because I got to save on airfare and the hassle of flying.

Pros: Woodloch is emaculately clean, beautifully landscaped, and offers premium customer service (people actually look you in the eyes and say hello, are always cordial and pleasant, and VERY attentive). Woodloch offers a ton of wonderful events everyday for the family to participate in (or not). The free ammenities are great (bumper cars, race track, mini-golf, boat rides, water skiing, etc.). The rooms are quiet. - we never heard anyone else We never experienced over crowding at the pool or the lake beach. The food was much better than expected for an all-you-can eat meal plan. The evening shows were well done, fun and entertaining. Shuttles are available for those challenged by all the walking.
Cons: We hated being kept to a meal schedule for every meal. We always felt rushed or inconveneinced by HAVING to report to the dining room within very specific times. We did not enjoy having access to all the wonderful ammenities on specific time schedules. An example day due to the scheduled availabilites was: breakfast at 8:30, go-carts at 10:00, batting cage at 10:30, bumper cars at 11:00, lunch at 12:30, pool or lake 'til 5:00, off to dinner at 6:30, be at the show by 8:30). The one bedroom room we rented had no kitchen or micorwave (although you can rent a microwave for the low-low cost of $20/day) but did have a small frig. Our beds were uncomfortable and the sofa and sofa bed were unbearably uncomfortable (faux hard leather, terrible mattress). The outdoor pool closes at 6:00 p.m. - far too early for us - . The amount of walking can be significant (getting from one event/activity to another) and quite challenging due to everything being on hillsides - if you're not young and/or in shape you will probably want to use the shuttle. Parking is very limited (especially on check-in/check-out days) and can lead to having to park a significant distance from your room.

Overall - a wonderful, wonderful place for a family with tons and tons of great things to do on beautiful, clean grounds with wonderful customer service and good food. We really understand why so many families return year after year. We just found the massive scheduling of EVERYTHING quite stressful and exhausting.

We stayed in Woodloch Springs in a large 5 bedroom house. We prefer cooking for ourselves so we do not use the dining room in the hotel. Our adult children, their spouses and siblings all pitch in to make meal prep easy and fun. We use the grill and the screened in porch and our kids and six grandchildren just love it. The facility is immaculate and if we need anything (extra towels, etc.) the staff has been totally responsive. My children went to overnight camp and Woodloch reminds them of those years. If you are looking for a fancy, sophisticated weekend, I'm not sure the Poconos is the place to go. But this resort is so perfect for a family destination and we like it so much that we talked this weekend about what it will be like when we come with our grandchildren (currently almost 3 to almost 9) in ten years.

Room Tip: Our house this year was near a forest. The best views in the Springs are of the golf course, which i...

My family of 8 just returned home from our 5 night/6 day vacation at Woodloch. This was our first time there. Let me just say that we have 5 kids. A 14 yr old boy, two 9 yr old girls, a 4 yr old girl, and an infant. They all had the best time ever! The older kids liked Woodloch better than the Carnival cruise! My mother joined us as well. There was always something fun to do. No one wanted to leave. Even the baby loved the musicals (off broadway caliber)! We stayed in a house we rented from Woodloch in Woodloch springs. It was very large and beautiful. There were 5 bedrooms, and each had it's own full bathroom! The house was really clean and looked almost new. The view of the golf course in our backyard was awesome. It was easy to relax on our porch and in the second screened in porch. Next time we go (which is a definite) we are going to stay in the mt laurel suites. We won't have as much room as the house, but we want to be in walking distance to the main campus of the resort so we don't miss out in anything lol. There are games going on all day long, and we missed out on some fun by staying 2 miles down the road. My family just likes to go go go all the time. The people working at Woodloch are just as pampering as on a cruise ship. They really do treat you like family. Since this was our first time there, we asked a lot of questions trying to figure everything out so we could make the most of our 6 days. On our last day we finally had time for the zipline, but I didn't realize you were supposed to sign up ahead of time. It was all booked for the day. My 14 yr old was crushed. It was my fault for putting it off in our to do list. I spoke to a woman named Jess at the front desk about it. She somehow managed to get not just my son on the list, but my husband and I as well! The staff really go out of their way to make you happy!!! We can't wait to go back!!! Thank you Woodloch for the best family vacation ever! We want to make this our vacation spot every summer for now on! We'l see you next year!!!
