There are two adjacent houses here. We stayed for one night in the Mary Sachs House. We have stayed at well over 100 traditional B & B's, and perhaps we tend to be more critical in reviews on B & B's than those who don't have as much experience staying in these properties. The houses are very nice, but there were some pretty big issues for us---the actual rating actually should be 3.5.
The location is great----in a nice area right across the street from the Susquehanna River and only a 5 minute drive from downtown Harrisburg. There is ample parking in a paved lot behind the houses. Both houses are very large with nice furnishings, good lighting, and spacious common areas (including a kitchen in our house). Our 2nd floor Bennington Suite was large and airy. It faced a busy street (and the river), so there's some road noise, but not heavy trucks. The bathroom was just average-sized, with a tiny plastic shower. Breakfast was in the lovely dining room of the Ledgestone House, and was good. You have to brave the elements to go for breakfast, and also to take your breakfast order over when you check in. We prefer B & B's where you actually meet a host when you check in, but understand with Covid that some B & B's have changed their process.
The issues we had were as follows:
---There was a central thermostat for all the rooms in our house, and it was set too high for us. Our room was too hot overnight, so we didn't sleep that well.
---We were supposed to get an e-mail the day of check-in to give us the code to get in the house. But it was sent to the wrong address, and I had to call in late afternoon to get the code. I got voice mail when I called, but did get a quick response from my voice mail.
---To get into the Ledgestone, you have to scan your key fob at the door. I was never told this. When I went to take the breakfast order over, I couldn't get in, but a worker (maybe the owner) opened the door for me. Unfortunately he didn't say anything about the key fob, so when we went over for breakfast, the door was locked, and I had to go back to our house to call to find out what the deal was, at which time I was informed about the key fob process. Was not happy!
---For some reason there was no side table on one side of our bed---unusual for a luxury property.
---The room has Roku TV with hundreds of channels, but I couldn't find any local news channels, and overall it was a bit hard to find a preferred channel without scrolling through the channel list of hundreds. We didn't see any Roku instructions.
---There was no Wi-Fi info in the room. I finally found a little card in a common area with the necessary information. Why not put these cards in each room? And the card in our house had the Wi-Fi information for the Ledgestone House, not ours (I finally figured out that the Wi-Fi name for the Mary Sachs had the same password as for the Ledgestone).
Yes, many of our issues were not major and just simple human error, but they all added up to an experience not up to par with many of the luxury B & B's we've stayed at in the past.
