Mariama & her whole family take great pride in serving you their very best. Don't let the hard to find, humble atmosphere determine your opinion of the level of service & delicious meal you will experience! The restaurant is just two years old, probably frequented only by locals, who hear of it word of mouth. We got wind of it through restaurant.com, so we thought we'd keep an open mind & give it a try. Upon arrival, Mariama's son greeted us by opening the door & guiding us to our table. Mariama arrived immediately to take our order wearing an 18 month old baby on her back, smiling from ear to ear. I ordered curried goat, yellow rice & plantains. Bro ordered curried chicken, carrot, & rice dish. Picky daughter ordered spaghetti & meat sauce & like it! Husband wasvfeeling adventurous & ordered something with curry, but didn't recognize the names of everything. Miriama joked with him & asked him if he knew what this was. She said "okay", laughed & laughed , walked back in the kitchen, & sent out her young son to explain that he'd ordered intestines. He gave husband the opportunity to change his order, & he chose fish with curried stewed vegetables instead. As we waited for our meal, we enjoyed watching the busy take out business come in & out. Everyone was greeted like good friends & family! There were only two other tables seated for dining in the whole time we were there & we salivated in anticipation for our meals due to the wonderful aroma & view of what others were eating. We noticed speakers & some sound equipment lined up along the wall & guessed that they must do catering & Jamaican dance parties. Suddenly Mariama & two of her sons (in addition to baby on back) burst from behind the kitchen curtain, carrying huge steaming plates with our food. All three were smiling proudly as they placed our meals in front of us. My very hungry (it was 8:30pm) daughter looked around for hers, & it was brought out in such a quick instant that she didn't even have a chance to ask where it was. The curry sauce was just right & my goat tasted as though it was slow cooked in a crock pot. The plaintains were soft inside & fried enough to really bring out the flavor. The portions were big & we took boxes home to enjoy later. Our bill for 4 people was under $40, after we added our restaurant.com certificate! We will be back, for sure & are already committed to fo that with our second restaurant.com certificate. I hope Mariama & her family succeed in running this business- it is amazing food & service, but the only pitfall is location. If you get list trying to find it, keep trying! It is completely worthwhile to experience this fabulously authentic Jamaican food & family!
