“Hard to find but well worth the search”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

Not located on the way to anywhere, and in the middle of a suburban neighborhood sits the best Carolina-style Bar-b-que place in the Harrisburg area. Pulled pork and smoked brisket can't be beat and they have my favorite hamburgers (made with angus beef and brisket together). The fries are twice fried (just like 5 Guys), and the sides are also worth trying. The hands on owner is always there and does nearly all the cooking. Immaculately clean a comfortable place to eat (BYO) and great value. There is even ice cream for the kids (or in case you tried the hot sauce). Take out or eat in, either way you can't go wrong.

“Great Carolina Style BBQ Up North”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

I've been to this little (out of the way) restaurant several times and it never disappoints. The Carolina style pulled pork and brisket are top notch. Quite honestly, they can stand on their own without any sauces. Fries are tasty. Cornbread is terrific. I also like the gourmet sodas that they offer.

If you are in Harrisburg area and are craving BBQ, this is the place.

“Good sandwich”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014 via mobile

Service very nice. Order at counter. Was not busy for late lunch. Food out in 8 minutes. Homemade Cole slaw excellent. Brisket sandwich good. Sandwich Bread rolls fresh daily from Philadelphia. Cornbread great flavor and nice muffinlike texture. Located out in the boonies. 1st time - I would go back.

“FABULOUS BBQ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

In a recent trip to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, my boyfriend and I were in search of a local restaurant to grab a quick lunch; fortunately, we stumbled upon reviews for Official Barbecue.

Upon arriving, we met an elderly couple exiting the restaurant; we inquired about the quality of the food.

The elderly man replied, "The best BBQ you'll ever have; that's if there's any left!"

We were greeted by a friendly cashier, willing to provide her personal advice on menu items; in a matter of a few seconds we were "sold" on the BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich and Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich. Perhaps the most difficult decision was deciding between a regular and large size sandwich. Ultimately, we decided on the regular size sandwiches.

After about 5-10 minutes, our food was delivered to our table by our delightful cashier. Our food arrived on silver trays with official BBQ (red and white) checked liners. Our initial response: "Thank goodness we got the regular size!"; Official BBQ serves VERY generous sized portions.

The BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich featured approximately 5 slices of brisket on a brioche style roll; the brisket was perfectly cooked (very moist), and bursting with flavor. A side of creole potato salad also had great flavor ("just the perfect amount of mayonnaise").

The Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich featured a high stack of pulled pork, also served on a brioche style roll; similar to the brisket, the pulled pork was BEYOND perfectly cooked ("melt in your mouth"). I added a few squirts of the "Official BBQ Sauce", although not necessary; the "Official BBQ Sauce" had good flavor, sweet in nature. A side of fries were well seasoned, certainly "better than average".

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS MEAL.

At the end of our visit, we briefly chatted with all three employees regarding local activities; all three employees were VERY friendly and offered helpful advice.

We will certainly be visiting Official Barbecue in any future trips to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

“So Good !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

Ordered over the phone here on a Saturday night and the food was surprisingly ready when we got there. We ordered a brisket sandwich, cornbread, chicken wings, fries, and mac n cheese. Everything was delicious!! The mac n cheese tasted quite different than others though. I can't get the BBQ smell out of my head!!
