“Great food, overworked server”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Stopped for dinner on a Saturday evening. Place was busy but we got seated immediately. Our server was good but had too much to handle all hitting him at once. Beer took way too long to get because the bartender was coming from behind the bar to take care of some tables. They did the best they could. Now on to the food. All around a great meal, our selections included fried green tomatoes, brisket, catfish, ribs. Sides were numerous and all were good to great. Wide variety of out of the ordinary sauces. Food came out of the kitchen very quickly. They're glad to give you several if you ask. Dinner for two ended up under $40 not including tip. Great place to get BBQ in the Harrisburg area.

“Almost chewed my fingers off!”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

A must do in downtown Harrisburg is MoMo's BBQ! They have a HUGE beer selection but what is really good is their ribs and wings! Their wings have a sweet tangy taste to them and you can select whether you want them mild or hot. Their fries are great too! The fries are covered in the same Rub that they use for their meats; a little spice and everything nice!

Their beers are local as well as varying in regions of the US. I had a local beer made in near by Hershey (and no it was not chocolate flavored) which was very good! It was similar to a Killian's Red.

They have TV's up on the walls so it's a great place to watch a game.

We went there for an early meal before a concert. Very good food, good service and music. Draft beer was good too. Nice atmosphere.

“Ok for drinks and bbq, but could be better.”

On my quest for barbecue in Harrisburg area. Beer selection, excellent. Wings dry, pork dry, rest of the food was ok. The quest continues. More sauces than food.

“Not Stellar”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

The good: Wings were great. Not much heat, but good & smokey. The bleu cheese was excellent. The beer list is phenomenal. I'm not a big microbrew person, but they have a lot of different ones if that's your thing. The service: Outstanding.

The bad: Pulled pork. Greasy, bland, no smoke at all. The brisket: Greasy, bland, no smoke at all, and chopped. Anytime I've ever ordered brisket, it's come sliced. Big thick, juicy smoky slices of brisket with bark. (mmmmmmbrisket) Not so here. Chopped. The only difference between the brisket and the pulled pork was the color. Both seemed like they were made over the weekend, and just ladled out of a bucket and reheated.

The Luau beans were just okay. I wouldn't order them again, since I'm no fan of fruit in food, they had a pineapple taste to them (Hence the Luau, I guess) The potato salad was totally bland with lots of hard potato pieces in it. The 1/4 BBQ chicken was really boring and gray. The local fire companies and churches make way better BBQ chicken. (*Note, any time you see the firemen, churches, or local service clubs having the chicken BBQs along the road, DO IT. Seriously.) I didn't even eat the corn bread. It was a sad little anemic piece of beige cornbread. (I had the Cluck, Oink and Moo platter, if you're wondering, it's a big lot of food.)

One of the big draws to Momo's is their multitude of sauces. Which is fine, but the MEAT should do the talking and the sauce should just be a nice thing to add some character. Sadly, the meat had nothing to say at Momo's. Which is kind of sad. I do crave BBQ, but GOOD BBQ. This was not good crave-able BBQ. (Seriously, Red Hot & Blue has way better 'cue, and they're a chain, I feel dirty even saying that...)

I'm being kind in my rating, because Momo's would be a cool place to hang out and watch the game, and have wings & beers with friends. I can't be a complete hater for a place that makes wings that good. I would go back for the wings, and to try the chili. Again, I don't want to be a total hater.
