This place is gorgeous and rich in history. You can walk along the river on the property and enjoy the view or tour the house or walk the rest of the property and see all the other buildings. There are picnic areas, playgrounds and plenty of parking.

My family was vacationing in Harrisburg area last week and we toured Ft Hunter. Although it was late in the day, Molly was very friendly, welcoming and informative. She did a great job connecting with our kids, who are 8 and 11. They really enjoyed the tour as well.

Lovely house, great history and Molly did a GREAT job.

Recommend to anyone.

The grounds and park were beautiful with a charming river walk. Everything was well maintained and the charming old house was very inviting. This tour included many well preserved artifacts.

I have spent many hours at Fort Hunter. It is a beautiful public park situated on the banks of the Susquehanna River. The mansion is beautiful and worth touring. And the grounds are wonderful. There are all sorts of events held here, including the Dauphin County Wine Festival (Spring), Fort Hunter Day (Fall) and various concerts. There is also a Victorian Tea, which is held in the Tavern, and, for the Christmas Holidays, a model train layout and a Tree decorating contest. The huge Centennial Barn located across the street from the mansion is also the sight of numerous concerts. There are two pavilions that can be rented and several picnic tables. Plenty of parking is available.
