We picked this location for 3rd annual trip to Hershey Park. Based on the reviews, I was very excited about our 2 bedroom suite for our group of 5 adults and 3 year old child. I am giving mixed reviews because there really some pros and cons about this resort.
Location: Average. Takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the park. Not too bad, and there are a lot of other resorts in the area, but for the price you can stay in a resort in Hershey itself and be right near the park, if that is in fact your destination for the trip as ours was.
Resort: Nice and very pretty, clean, but not as big as expected. The indoor pool looks larger in the picture, and the pool area smells strongly of chlorine. The gym leaves much to be desired. Consisting of 2 treadmills that overlook the pool and 1 elliptical, and a few medicine balls, it's not what I would call a gym. The resort does however have a sign in the gym advising that their guests are welcome to use the golds gym down the road for the duration of their stay. For those staying long term that might be a nice touch.
There is a basketball half court, not bad, and a 2 hole putting green. Not bad, but you have to request the equipment.
The room was beautiful. I will give credit where credit is due. Extremely clean! The beds were comfortable and the bedding was soft. Considering this is the part of the resort you will be spending most of your stay, it's the most important part and why my review was given a 4 instead of a 3.
The food is an added bonus the the resort doesn't have to offer. It's very nice that they offer a buffet breakfast and even light dinner Mon-Thurs, bur they leave a lot to be desired. Dinner the night we stayed consisted of sesame chicken and teriyaki chicken. My family doesn't care for this venue so we didn't eat there for dinner, but looked forward to breakfast. The following morning, breakfast was biscuits and gravy, bagels, eggs (that were prepared like flat individual patties) cereal and some juice. Again, nothing we would eat. Wound up going to the Waffle house.
Ultimately the place was nice enough for one night. The service was acceptable, and they were very nice... But in the morning upon checkout, there was only one person at the desk, answering phones, helping another couple try to schedule a future stay, and a line to check out started to form... When checkout itself took 10 seconds.
I would stay again for 1 night... But since this was our 3rd annual trip and we will return next year, I believe our search for our "usual place" will continue.
