We were passing through Harrisburg, PA, and saw information about this museum in our AAA guide. We were very impressed after we got over our surprise that this "National" museum was located in PA instead of somewhere in the south! About 10 years old. Building is beautiful, and the exhibits are outstanding, especially the videos throughout, following several characters from the beginning of the war until the end as you pass (chronologically) through the exhibits. Very reasonable cost. Even 13-year old boy enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this museum. It is a lot larger than it looks! Very educational, is good for all ages.

As a member of the Sons of Veterans of the civil war, this was a must see. Everything you would want from a civil war museum and more. Its a full day trip from Gettysburg, but worth the ride there and back. A few good spots to eat around the area.

Not far from one of the most famous civil war tourist attractions, Gettysburg, this museum houses an astounding collection of artifacts from the Civil War. They do a very classy job of not telling a one-sided story of a war that divided this country. Also, the location is beautiful. It is a perfect spot to see all of Harrisburg and the surrounding area from on top of a hill in the middle of the city. It's definitely worth making the trip here!
