This was a nice little stop on our way further west. I went with my father and grandmother and we had a nice time. The trip was about 45 minutes and it took us up river past many of the sights of Harrisburg, unfortunatley I can't really say what building we saw. I beleive it would have been a much better trip if not for the several school buses of children that boarded with us. They were just being kids, but they were so loud we could not hear the recorded history of Harrisburg! The bottom of the boat was air conditioned and the bathrooms were very neat and clean. The top of the boat was open to the air and they had a small snack bar which seemed to serve lunch.

Get there early before the tours arrive. Nice quick boat tour of the river and voice over history of Harrisburg/River. $9 for tour. $5 parking.

We thought we would conclude our day trip to Harrisburg with a relaxing, sunset cruise on the Pride of the Susquehanna river boat. After perusing the web site for info we made our way to the dock on City Island where the river boat was "supposed" to depart. When we arrived we thought it was unusual how there was no one there to board. What was even more weird was we noticed the river boat docked on the other side of the river boarding passengers! Our next thought was that this was another pick up site and the river boat would make its way across the river to our dock and pick us up. A phone call to the City Island park ranger seemed to confirm this. But as the boat pulled away from its dock and started cruising downstream it became obvious that we were not going to be picked up. My son was crushed. Very disappointing. The web site made no mention of there being "two" departure points for this river boat cruise. Very misleading. To add insult to injury, as we were departing Harrisburg driving over the bridge, we could look down and see the Pride of the Susquehanna floating down the river as the sun was setting and people out on the decks, drinks in hand, admiring the beautiful sunset that evening! Demoralizing!
