Every once in awhile, my husband, dog and I drive the half hour to Codorus State Park in order to escape the stressors of our daily lives. While there, we may either hike, canoe or just take in the beauty of the tranquil lake environment. Over the years, we have seen many species of birds including Blue Heron, Geese and a Bald Eagle.

We swam, fished and spent the day together. Plenty of sun or shade, whichever you prefer. Cash only for pool and concession...just a heads up since some people don't carry much of it.

we rented one of the pontoon boats. The boat was fun, the park is beautiful. It is a very relaxing and enjoyable way to spend a day but just a little bit pricey.

We spent an afternoon here recently, drove around the park a bit (a large state park - pool and waterslide look nice, and saw some disc golf - but didn't do those things), and rented a pontoon boat on the lake for part of a day. Note that you're not allowed to swim from the rental pontoon boats, a restriction that I've never experienced with a rental boat in a lifetime of boating. The rental office is decently stocked with everything you'd want for a day on the water.

The regular rental pontoon looks to be a 20' boat with a partial canvas and an 8 hp motor. The first one we were given didn't start. The second one we were given ran fine (FYI - 20' pontoon + 4 adults + 8 hp = probably 8 mph, top speed), though it was a bit dirty and wet from having been rained on the night before. This boat was not refueled when we left the dock, so it conked out on the other side of the lake...

On the upside, the lake is surprisingly beautiful, a good size lake with clean water and pretty quiet, though fishermen/boats are in seemingly every cove you want to explore. Note there is a 20 hp restriction for boaters on this lake.
