Worth a very beautiful country drive thorugh Bucks/Berks county. Alexanders is an ecclectic bar/restuarant complete with goats, horses and chickens out back. Very cozy inside, casual with a fireplace going. All old wood panelling and bar. Reminds me of a rural german bar. Service was a little slow, but then when we got the food we realized it was made by hand and very worth it.
The food was outstanding, plates of smoked fish/meat, pickeled herring, all the typical smoked meat mains, various fresh wursts. We had a seafood soup that was amazingly fresh, smoked trout appetizer (wow), for mains we had a casual but huge reuben sandwich, a mixed smoked meat plate, outstanding roast beef...along with fresh german potatoe salad, cucumber salad, potato pancakes...all home made and very german.
They have a typical sandwitch/bar menu also, and i heard that the beer variety is awesome. There were kids items (hamburger was just fine).
The food overall was very fresh, well prepared. The portions were huge. A very large meal for four was about $80, very reasonable for the quality of the experience.
Very good German food. Friendly staff...
Its all good.
