Spent one night at the Union Hotel en route to Ohio. Wanted a non-chain hotel without the big resort activities or price tag. This place is a gem! Staff was pleasant on the phone and when we arrived. The queen room was small but beautifully furnished. Bed linens were lush, towels were thick and plentiful. The bathroom was huge. Two large windows opened to the adjacent parking lot, but the thick drapes kept out the light and the window air conditioner muffled the sound.
We had dinner in the dining room by the entrance, but it was a tough call between that and the more casual pub downstairs or patio outside. Our delightful server turned out to be the son of one of the owners, and he shared the history of the renovation with us. The owners also own a stone/granite business in town, which would explain the beautiful marble, slate and granite throughout the hotel (including our window ledges, our entire bathroom, and almost every flat surface in the public spaces). The dinner menu was extensive, with a nice selection of full entrees, smaller entrees, and a sandwish menu. The food was delicious and plentiful. We ended the evening with drinks in the pub, and enjoyed the company of an outstanding bartender.
All in all, a perfect experience. We will return.
