stayed overnight at the Clarion for an early morning flight. It was great to have a real pizza made in this quaint neighborhood pizzeria.

Had seen sign last year that they had been there since 1944
Used it as half way meeting place to meet with Viking River Cruise travelling companions from New Jersey.
I dont frequently order strombolis but since it was invented here we all 4 tried them - ordering 3 diffeent variations.
Everyone was delighted including one of our companions who was a Manhattan restaurant owner for 30 years.
If all of the imitators over the past half century plus got even close, I would be a stromboli fan.
And of course there is their marinara sauce which is their biggest seller - an absolutely unique recipe.

Staying at the H.I. and ordered a cheese steak. They brought it right to the room within 13 mins. I've tried Pats and Genos, and I thought Ramonos cheese steak was better. Lots of meat and great bread. Would deff eat here again.

We walked over from a local hotel, expecting great pizza and even better cheesesteak. NothIng like it. Very average stuff in a quiet place, with little local ambiance, even if they revel in their history.

One of the main reasons for our trip to Philly was to sample as many cheese steaks as possible. Having tried Pat's, Geno's & Jims already, we set out to find Romano's (around the corner from where my friend's grandfather used to live - fond memories). This place knocks the 'Big 3' out of the ball park. Absolutely the best cheese steaks of the trip - juicy, cheesey, the 'right bread'. We ended up having several from Romano's in just a couple of days :-) PLUS, if you eat in it's a 'bring your own beer' establishment. Doesn't get much better than that in the quest for the perfect cheese steak.
