We are returning guests at the Clarion Bel-Aire In Erie, PA - back to visit with family & friends for the weekend. This hotel deserves an A+ all around. Check-in was simple and quick. The room itself was very spacious. However, the bathroom was a bit small. Cleanliness was top notch! Victor's (restaurant & bar) located in the hotel was the BEST! It was modern & cozy with a contemporary bar, and a sitting area with a sofa & loveseat ~ perfect when unwinding with a glass of wine! The appetizers were a delicious compliment to our cocktails. There were amenities that we didn't utilize such as the beautiful indoor pool, which seemed to be a hit for families with children, and fitness center. Free wi-fi is always a bonus these days. Overall, this hotel is the best in the area! We will return again and looking forward to it!

Hallways are poorly lit. Rooms need updating. Curtains were ripped. A/C wasn't functioning so we opened a window. There was a wedding reception there and also a youth hockey organization so getting some sleep was virtually impossible! I had to call the front desk as did other guests. I assume security must be an option at this hotel as they were no where to be found. The food was very good. The pool looked nice but we couldn't get near it due to the number of kids and noise and splashing. You can eat on the patio at the indoor pool but I don't recommend if there is a pool party going on. Your ambiance will certainly be ruined by the noise.

Room was quiet and comfortable. Interior hallways were dark. Buffet style breakfast was not included but under $5.

We went on a short bus trip, to Erie shopping, hotel I thought was not close to any malls that would be of interest? Hotel was ok, room smelled stale. We arrived the room was to be ready, it was ready, but dirty dishes sitting outside our room! Didn't like that, nasty! Anyways, would I stay there again, No! The only thing that was nice was the pool area and the breakfast was hot and good! Nice selection!

Our family has been traveling to Erie, PA for 10+ years. For most of those visits we've stayed at the Clarion Bel-Aire.

In fairness, we probably should have posted reviews when the hotel did a superb job. Sadly, we’ve noticed disappointing changes.

Let's start with small things: breakfast used to be free, now it is $4/person. Breakfast is a notch or two up from continental--just okay. Pool area lacks consistent policy. It can be a free for all during those times when they don't have a lifeguard on duty.

In February 2010 we were given a room with an unsecured window. A drinking glass (covered with paper lid) had beverage left in it--gross! Hotel staff were quick to send maintenance and housekeeping. Still, we were not comfortable and asked for another room--staff was understanding and complied with request.

For our most recent visit (July), we booked our room weeks before arrival (a preferred room that was available for Friday eve to Sunday morning). What a nightmare! It started around 9 p.m. Guests in adjoining room were loud. As time passed, they become "louder". We have young children. We tried to be patient but close to midnight we complained. Throughout the night there was banging on our door, jiggling of door handles, vulgar language. There was running and screaming through halls – it was mayhem at its best. Each complaint we were told this group was on a short leash, that police were being called -- but the chaos continued. Finally my husband went to front desk where we were told the police came but the crowd dispersed. We were also told there were 2 weddings (then 1) and a dance-just a large crowd out of control. Regardless, crowd dispersed? How? The noise was relentless until 7:30 a.m. so where did they disperse to? We were offered a discounted rate and another room (in an area of hotel we absolutely hate). Our preferred solution would have been to inconvenience the disruptive guests by booting them out. But we quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. We also realized for our “comfort” it was best we either move to the new room or leave the hotel--Catch 22 was that our weekend was ruined regardless. So, we moved to new room but not before negotiating a more fair and equitable discount--a full refund which we commend management for this decision. Not only did we feel like hostages in the room, the tension and sleep deprivation dampened the remainder of our get-away.

In comparison and fairness, its not the worst place but. . . .its definitely become a disappointment to our family.

IMy husband and I travel frequently both for business and pleasure and this place has to be the all time worst. Our reservations were messed up (not hotel fault), so we ended up in a king w/sofa bed. Upon entering room, we decided to set up sofa bed, since we would be returning late that night. It was locked with a cable to prevent it from being opened. Then I discovered the carpet was wet about 8 feet all around air conditioner.
Room was dirty, along with mold in the bathroom. Carpet was filthy with large stains. Bedding was dated and cheap as were all the furnishings.
I could only post 3 pictures, but I think they speak for themselves.
For the price, you can stay anywhere else in town.

Our family stayed here for 1 night and it was awful! I have stayed in many hotels but none as bad as this! We had 3 rooms, mine was the worst. First the noise you can hear from other rooms is ridiculous, I wouldn't say we had noisy neighbors but you could hear everything coming from the room next to us. The worst part was at about 12:30A.M. it started to rain, a short time later I heard a dripping noise and went over to the area it was coming from. The roof was leaking into our room!! From looking at it you could tell this clearly wasn't the first time it had leaked because the painted was all chipped and cracking, you could see mold on the ceiling...it was disgusting!!!! So all night long I got to listen to the sound of a leaking roof, by the time morning came the curtains were soaked, the window had a huge puddle on the window sill. So around 7:30 I called the front desk and the response I got was why didn't you call sooner to complain. Seriously?! I had 3 sleeping children in the room, what were they going to do, come repair the roof in the middle of the night?! I would sleep in my car before I would ever stay at this hotel again!!!!!
