We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Peach Street in Erie the first weekend in August, 2009. Used 25,000 Priority Club Points to book the stay.

We were headed to Waldameer Park on Saturday and Presque Isle State Park on Sunday. There are many hotels closer to those locations but this is the only Intercontinental Hotels affiliate in town. Erie's not a large town anyway, so we arrived at the Park(s) within about 10 minutes. We arrived in town at about 11:30 AM, ate lunch and still had about 45 minutes before Waldameer opened at 1:00. We decided to try to check in early (normal check in time is 4 PM) and were accomodated. This was great because with 3 kids between 2 and 9, it's helpful to be able to arrive back at the hotel and crash rather than deal with checking in at 10:30 PM (learned the hard way last year when the LaQuinta at the next exit did not have our reserved room available due to a desk clerk's error in assigning rooms).

As I understand it all rooms in this hotel are suites, which can have a variety of definitions these days. Our suite was a true suite- an actual sleeping area with a door separating it from the living room and kitchen. The 2 year old slept in her playpen in the living room and the rest of us in the 2 queen beds in the bedroom. Despite being full of families, the hotel was very quiet and we heard no noise at all in the night.

There is no pool because the hotel is adjoined to Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park, which we did not go to. We had neither the time nor the need to use a pool had there been one. The hotel features the standard Holiday Inn Express continental breakfast.

We make a trip to Erie for a weekend every year and this is the first time I have been able to book a room on a Saturday night at this property as it is always full on summer Saturdays. I found rooms available this year six weeks in advance, usually I try more like two weeks ahead. I highly recommend a stay here, but plan ahead.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and found the hotel to be in great location. We choose this hotel because it was connected to Splash Lagoon waterpark. The hotel was very clean. We has a room with 2 double beds, mini fridge and microwave. There were plenty of food choices nearby. Boston's gourmet pizza was w/in walking distance and offered many choices other than pizza. We found the food and desserts to be very good. I took my 3 yr old to the waterpark on friday evening and despite the "discount" after 4pm it still cost us $45.00 to enter. The park was smaller than I expected. Since my daughter was only 3 she was limited to certain rides. The hotel does not offer a pool. Despite the reviews that the breakfast area was crowded. We managed to go around 730am and found many tables to choose from. My inlaws stayed across the street at the Wingate and paid alot less per night for a very similar room and just as clean. All in all I would recommend this hotel, but may consider another choice next time.

We stayed at thisHoliday Inn Express connected to Splash Lagoon for a long weekend. We found the staff friendly and accommodating, the location PERFECT, the breakfast bar fulfulling and Splash Lagoon clean, warm and a lot of fun.

Our room was clean and spacious with two queen beds, desk, armoire with TV, table & 2 chairs, and a pull out sofa with a coffee table large enough for us to play games on at night. We loved the small kitchenette with mini sink, microwave and fridge.

The fact that local quality restaurants will deliver to the hotel made leaving on this exceptionally cold weekend unnecessary, which was perfect for us.

We will return here again in the future with family and friends who can't wait to come with us.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn in mid August and we had a great time. We had for rooms reserved and the rooms were amazing. We had suites which had a separate living room area and kitchen so everyone had a lot of space. Room was very clean and up to date. All the staff we encountered were great. The only negative was the breakfast area. Basiacally too many people trying to get breakfast at once. Regardless we will definitely stay there again

Sorry a late report... But summer is finally over and can do the reports. We stayed in mid June on trip from Chicago to Niargara Falls. We had spent 2 days prior in Sandusky Oh at Cedar Point. Wanting to split the drive from there to Niagara because of traveling with kids. Preview done, here it goes.

We traveled with 6 people, me, my g/f, our two young children, and my g/f bro and his g/f. We booked one of the larger rooms. WOW this was huge. A great room with multiple beds, couches seperate eating area, large bathroom. A room that was the best hotel room I have ever stayed at. Would stay in this hotel again if I ever make it to Erie again. the staff was great and the room was great. Now the waterpark on the other end was not a top ten park as they were selling. It was go for teenagers because of the slides they had. Very boring for adults and young children. Plus they sell the (as read in all the other reviews) water snakes. Those are fun. I told my kids to be careful and they didnt spray anyone out of the water way but we got yelled at by the guards for someone who was sitting in a hottub that didnt want to get wet(hello, it's water you are sitting in)

We stayed here August 2008. The room was a nice surprise as it was very large with 2 rooms and a full kitchen. The room had 10 foot ceilings, a fireplace, full sized fridge, a living room and separate bedroom. We were expecting just a room with 2 beds and we got the deluxe version. Beds were comfy. Our room had 2 flat screen tv's, one in the bedroom and the other in the living room. Based on price paid for the room this was an excellent value. The only minor complaint I have is related to the breakfast. I always complain about hotel cattle call style breakfasts so take my critique with a grain of salt. This breakfast was crowded. They had 2 lines going but only one line had food. Eggs were cold and rubbery. They ran out of coffee but did restock quickly. This was not the hotels fault. There were just too many people compteting for the same cinnamon role. It was like Wild Kingdom. The 2nd morning we bought donuts from Mighty Fine Donuts on Parade St and ate in our room. They have the best donuts. Enought about breakfast. The room was great and I would stay there again.

Stayed with our 2 kids on the way from Toronto back to the Washington DC area, and got a deal with a kids' suite and Splash Lagoon tickets. The hotel, Splash Lagoon, and lots of other hotels and chain restaurants are owned by one family in Erie. The family seems to know hospitality.

The room was large and clean. It had a separate "room" (the walls didn't go all the way up to the ceiling) with bunk beds, a desk, and a TV for the kids. Our part of the room had a very comfortable king bed. There was a small kitchen alley area with a microwave and a small refrigerator with separate freezer. They even stocked the fridge with milk. The bathroom was large and clean and modern with a big Jacuzzi tub. The towels were plush and soft. The free breakfast was adequate, and a little better than the typical 2-star hotel continental breakfast with biscuits with sausage gravy and hard boiled eggs in addition to the usual pastries, bagels, cereal, etc.

You could get to Splash Lagoon without even going outside, which would be GREAT in the winter. (We went in August.)

Front desk was helpful, friendly and very accommodating!!
