I am old enough to remember restaurants before blaring music and a rushed dining experience. Danny's reminds me of the romantic restaurants of the past. The music was soft and the atmosphere serene. The wait-staff here are very attentive and since the dining room is small, you can get their attention when necessary.
My appetizer of bacon-wrapped scallops was excellent; the scallops tasted fresh. My entree of gnocci came with a very delicious homemade marinara sauce that reminded me of my Italian grandmother's. The only drawback encountered in our food is that my friend's shrimp scampi was too oily. Any pasta dish with a white sauce is best when the oil/butter is used sparingly, or else it tastes heavy.
The house-made bleu cheese dressing for the salad was very good. The chocolate-based pie my friend enjoyed for dessert was not out of a box, rather, homemade.
I had passed this rather obscured restaurant on Peach St. several times and been curious about it. I am glad that I finally tried it. It's the best Italian food I have encountered yet in Erie. I will definitely return.
