My husband and I stayed at Erie TownePlace Suites for a two day shopping trip. We've stayed at a number of Erie hotels and this one is the nicest we've stayed at. The front desk staff were friendly upon our arrival and check in was quick. In fact, throughout our stay, the staff were great. Our room was a king suite. The room had a kitchen with fridge, microwave, dishwasher and cook top. Countertops are granite. Kitchen has laminate flooring and the rest of the room was carpeted. The decor was modern, which we really liked. I didn't find the room to be cramped at all...it was actually well layed out. There was even a pull out dining table tucked underneath the work space. The bathroom had a vanity in it with granite countertop (it's nice to have somewhere to hide away your stuff instead of leaving it on the counter). There really does need to be another mirror, other than the one in the bathroom. Perhaps one could be placed above the desk or on the wall located in the kitchen. There's a flat screen t.v. and free internet which worked well. The room was very clean and tidy. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice and clean. There were chicken wings and beer in the lounge one evening and the breakfast the next morning was more than adequate. You can't beat the location of the hotel, which is right beside the Millcreek Mall and other large stores on Peach St. On our next shopping trip to Erie we will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was just ok. New property which is nice. My room could have used a good dusting - it looked like it hadn't really been dusted up in a long time. The really weird thing about the place is that the entryway doesn't have an automatic door. So you've got to haggle with opening the door, holding the door and trying to get your luggage in. How annoying!! Stayed in a king suite which was clausterphobic! Things crammed in every nook and cranny - good space planning for a small room, but it feels very small. So it's ok - nothing to write home about but would suffice for a short stay.

Thank you for your honest resonse. We, too, wish we had an automatic front door opener. However, our amazing Welcome Desk Staff always tries to anticipate and opens the door whenever possible! The suites are compact but do have everything you need on a trip away from home! Please come back and give us another try! We promise to offer the best in service and with a smile!

We had reservations for a hotel in S.C. but alas, the hurricane hit, a day before we were supposed to go. We of course cancelled but took a trip to Erie instead. We had already stayed at the TowneHouse Suites before.
The staff is very friendly there, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We had an efficiency and it had everything we needed. Full stove and refrigerator, dishwasher, etc.
Some evenings they had free beer and Pizza, tacos, pulled pork, etc. Sure saved money on dining out. The also have free breakfasts every morning. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, cereals, juices, coffee...
The indoor pool is a plus as is the free computers in the lobby in case you didn't bring a lap top for access in your room.
It's not an ocean front, but Lake Erie is not far. Sandy beaches, great fishing and no hurricanes.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing place to stay overnight or for a week. Oh, and if you are into casinos as we are, there's a great one not far from the hotel.
The hotel even gives you a voucher for $7.00 for the casino any time you want to go.
Great hotel!

A friend and I have decided to make an annual pilgrimage to Erie and Grove City to do some serious shopping! Last year and again this year, we chose to stay at the TownePlace Suites which is located adjacent to the parking lot of the Millcreek Mall.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite both times, and we will do the same next year. The bedrooms are each fairly roomy with a nice-sized closet and dresser and a flat-screen TV. The common area has a small but functional kitchen, a shared bathroom and a sitting area with another flat screen TV. The room was kept clean and, while it seems like a small, silly thing, the temperature was easy to control. I've stayed in many very nice places where this was not the case, so I'm appreciative when it works well! The beds are extraordinarily comfortable!!

2 minor things that prevent me from being more generous in the overall rating are as follows:

1) There is ONE mirror in the whole place. One bathroom, 2 bedrooms 3 televisions and ONE mirror. I'd forgotten about this or we would have brought one with us! That should be remedied.

2) The front desk can be hit or miss. When we arrived, our 'welcoming committee' was somewhat less than enthusiastic. I walked up to the desk where 2 clerks stood with heads down, studying something that was far more interesting than we were. I spoke first
"Hello"
"Can I help you?" (head still down)
"We're here to check..."
"name?" (looking at computer and still has not made eye contact)

This was a disappointing beginning to what ended up being a very nice trip. Nice trip not withstanding, I would have given 3 stars instead of 4 if not for one young lady who was on the front desk later that evening. She was fantastic! She saw us struggling to the front door with several parcels in our hands and literally RAN through the lobby to get and hold the door for us. We certainly don't expect that kind of service every time we enter the hotel, but somewhere in between would be nice!

Overall... a great stay with a couple of minor hiccups!

Thank you so much for your honest and genuine review of our hotel. It is such a helpful way of getting a report card when guestws like yourself take the time to critique us!!! You will be happy to know due to to guest input we are installing additional mirrors in the suites!!! Without the guest comments this would never had made it past the property level! Thank you! Our staff is outstanding and it is disappointing to read you only got half of that! That information has been shared with the Front Office staff and I am positive all members are more aware of just how much it means to our guests to have their FULL attention! Again, thank you so much!

I stayed at this hotel based 100% on TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed. Although I am a long-time 'Marriott chain person', I had never stayed at a TownePlace Suites previously - and I had expected a bit lower-end experience relative to the chain. This was not the case...The places I went were very clean and bright, the room was great and the breakfast was exactly what I had hoped - simple, quick and a couple of options. I could not provide a five-star rating only because it was a very brief stay and I did not have enough time to fully evaluate.

Well furnished, clean room. I was surprised how nicely furnished it was. I had only reserved a King bed room, but also had a nearly full kitchen as well, which was unexpected.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast had nice range of choices.

Only downside - walls were a bit thin, and could here then next door guests showering or cleaning out their drawers during an early morning check-out.

Overall, it was a great value for the price.

This is one of the newest hotels that has sprung up in this area. As such, the property is in very good shape. Check in went smooth. We had a 2 bedroom suite that perfectly accommodated 2 adults and 2 kids. There was only one bathroom with small vanity area, and only one mirror in the whole place, which seemed odd considering the overall size of the suite and the expectation that several people would be staying in the suite. But that is really my only complaint. The suite had 3 flat screen TVs, a fully furnished kitchen, and a large & expandable work area for the business traveler. There is a complimentary breakfast each morning, which was good but not great. Parking is also complimentary. The hotel is very convenient. It is on the campus of the Millcreek Mall and is only a block or two away from the entrance ramp to I-79. The newness and modern accents are what makes this hotel. I would recommend it.
