My wife and I were very surprised to find that Erie PA is more then a place to cross through on our way to and from Buffalo NY. We decided to use Erie as a halfway point going to and from Rochester from Eastern Ohio. We stayed at the Sheraton on the Erie Bayfront. Great views of the Lake, next to convention center, full restaurant and bar. Great access to the Presque Isle peninsula which is beautiful in winter and I can only imagine the summer time with 11 beaches and an amusement park. Treated well by the staff, rooms were clean and nice sized. The only problem is parking is in a Parking garage next door with a $12 per day charge.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view.

My daughter and I were traveling alone on this trip and safety and comfort were a priority for us. This is a lovely hotel on the water just outside of the shopping area in Erie. It was quiet and very pleasant. This is the second time I have stayed at this property and I must say that while the first visit was excellent, this time it was even better. The front desk and restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This hotel is my first choice when staying in Erie!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water. The view is lovely.

My wife and myself stayed on march 8 to the 10th. The staff couldn't do enough for us! ALL the personnel were very courteous, attentive, and very polite. Some hotels are not noted for their food, but, this one is exceptional! Their food is first rate! The room was very comfortable, well furnished, and cozy. The in-room coffee pot was stocked with delicious Starbucks coffee. What more could you ask for! There is a LARGE parking garage on hotel property. This hotel is definitely classed as a "repeat item" for visiting Erie. The hotel ranks as a 4 star item.

Room Tip: Rooms on bay side and lake side have very good views.

My family stayed here over the Christmas holiday because my parents' house is getting too big to fit our extended family and it was a short drive up the Bayfront Connector to get to their house. I was pleasantly surprised by how upscale the Erie Sheraton is. Although we didn't stay on the club floor, the room (with a king-sized bed) was still ample in size and extremely comfortable. We selected a city-view room because, let's face it, there's not much to see on the bay in the winter except for ice and snow. So, every morning we were treated to a sunrise view of the Erie skyline.

The bathroom had a nice-sized shower with powerful water pressure - to be expected when your source of water is about half a mile away.

Wifi access was free, which is unusual in full-service hotels, and very much appreciated as I had to do a small bit of remote work during our vacation.

The room had a nice flat-screen TV with basic cable plus HBO and Showtime.

Service was warm and attentive, and I appreciated the hotel employees who went out of their way to take care of us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when they could have been home with their families. Some nice touches that were appreciated were fresh-cut flowers one day with our breakfast, and another day a complimentary newspaper appeared with a pot of coffee we ordered. The employees couldn't have been nicer to us. Even the front desk staff greeted us whenever we entered or existed the hotel.

I have but two complaints with the Erie Sheraton. The first complaint, as I always have with hotels of this caliber, was with the cost of food and beverages. A large pot of coffee cost $8 before tax and gratuity, raising the cost to something like $15. It was worth trekking up State Street to Starbucks, McDonald's, or to Tim Horton's on 12th Street to get breakfast items.

The second complaint is with the parking garage. I understand that the Sheraton is part of a larger convention complex in that it is connected to the Erie Convention Center, and that a lot of parking is needed for a complex of that size. But I didn't really appreciate having to pay $12/day for parking, especially in a city the size of Erie. Yes, the garage offers in/out privileges, but it still seemed too much.

In summary, the Sheraton is really the only full-service hotel in the CIty of Erie proper. If you want to be close to downtown Erie, Presque Isle and the Bayfront Connector. it's a great place to stay for any reason, really. Just be prepared to pay a premium for dining as well as pay for parking.

Room Tip: CIty view rooms offer a nice view of the Erie skyline, especially in the morning as the sun comes up...

Good sized room, clean and comfortable. The meals provided during the conference were very good - better than expected. Attentive staff and indoor pool were a plus. The Maritime Museum next door is worth a visit.

I thought I'd write to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel. The staff were extremely accommodating, and the room we had was quite large, roomy and with a wonderful view.

Definitely, we'd come back here.

Room Tip: We chose a room on the 7th floor with a great view.

The cowboy and I set out for adventure once again, at the drop of a hat. We piled in the car early Saturday afternoon and just drove -- destination unknown. Where we ended up was the perfect spot for us. We landed in Erie, PA and spent the evening at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel. It was freezing and snowy and pitch black, but that gave way to sunshine the following day, which we took advantage of while tooling around the area. While at the hotel, though, we walked around a bit (the dog show was in town!), ate breakfast in their restaurant which was overpriced but may well have had the best non-greasy hashbrowns I've ever eaten in my life, played a game of checkers on the game table in the lobby, and then took off!

We spent a couple of hours driving around Presque Isle and walked around a few spots - Admiral Hazard Perry's monument - the lighthouse - the ice-filled beach -- before piling back in the car for Columbus, OH. Home. The hotel was nice -- the view was impressive even in the wintertime -- but it wasn't fantastic for a Sheraton. If you find yourself on a roadtrip, however, and need to book a last-minute hotel in Erie, PA, why not give the Sheraton a try?

OH! And how could I forget this! The BATHROOM in our room was clever. Fun doors to enter, a roomy two-person shower (hubba, hubba), and a spacious counter/sink area. That was a good bathroom. And the shower, if I remember correctly, had a retractable clothesline in the tiled wall to drip-dry your bathing suit should you choose. Now THAT'S a fantastic feature!
