“The Quintessential Pennsylvania Experience!”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

The Kimmell House is the quintessential Pennsylvania experience! Everything about our stay was perfect--from the beautifully decorated historic home to the wonderful breakfasts which should be featured in a magazine like "Southern Living" to the friendliness and helpfulness of Bonnie and Dave. They went out of their way to meet our needs. Each day Bonnie made special breakfasts for me because of a food allergy. This was our second stay at the Kimmell House. The first time we stayed 4 nights, but this year we increased it to 6 nights! The week we were there all the guests were making repeat visits. Once you stay at the Kimmell House, you will be hooked! We are already looking forward
to our next visit!!

We celebrated our 12th anniversary here & as soon as I stepped through the door told my husband we'd be back next year!
This B & B is decorated absolutely perfect for time it was built & it made you feel as though you had stepped back in time.
Dave & Bonnie are very friendly & made us feel as though we had been friends forever & always asked if they could help with any plans for the day or made suggestions of places to see & had directions to get us there. Bonnie's menu is outstanding & she was very accommodating with food allergies or any special dietary concerns & would also be more than happy to make you something else but with all the delicious breakfasts she made who would have wanted anything else & there was plenty so that you couldn't possibly be hungry again until lunch.
We mentioned that we were there to celebrate our anniversary & upon our return we found a locally crafted heart ornament as a gift from she & Dave...how sweet & thoughtful is that!!
So we will definitely be going back next year & would highly recommend staying at Kimmell House if you are ever in the area.

We headed to the Lancaster area, with no reservations on the Labor Day Weekend. To our surprise, there was no rooms available in the area..After frantically looking for a place to stay, we were directed to the Kimmell House. Bonnie and Dave were patient with us, as we had gotten lost and it was late when they directed us to their lovely place. It was so comfortable, clean, and
charming with a private bathroom..We were pleasantly surprised! Breakfast was just as good.
We could not ask for more!

My wife and I found the Kimmell House to be a great value. Bonnie and Dave are friendly, accomodating and hospitable. The house itself built while George Washington was President is rich with history and modern comforts. After our first night stay I mentioned to Dave that when the compressor kicked on in the window unit air conditioner there was a loud vibrating noise. He and Bonnie were both appreciative of the comment and upon returning from dinner we found a "brand new" air conditioner in the window which was "quiet". We would also like to mention how once you are in your room there seems to be no other noise. It's quiet, it's clean, it's comfortable and cozy. Bonnie did a great job with breakfast. We will definitely be going back!

Room Tip: Front of house is "dark" because of HUGE tree in the yard.

My husband normally chooses our B&B's, but I was charged with the responsibility for this trip. I searched the net high & low for the perfect place. Upon our arrival I knew I had suceeded in my mission. My husband & I were not disappointed; we had the perfect room (Hunt Room), hosts, breakfasts, charm and decor - indeed I had found the perfect B&B. Dave & Bonnie were wonderful, gave help with itineraries when asked, but not overbearing with suggestions. We also learned a tidbit of information about the house after visiting the Ephrata Cloister. You'll have go for yourself to find out! : )

My wife and I really enjoyed our time staying at The Kimmell House. It's an old house (1765) with all the modern conveniences. But...they have such an eye for detail! It's appointed with the perfect touches to really make you feel like you're in the Colonial Era. We spent our evening time warming ourselves by the fire in the keeping room on the lower level. And it's so clean! The bedrooms were immacculate. The bathrooms too. And the food? Wow. Bonnie is awesome. We didn't have any dietary restrictions, so we ate whatever she made. (But to her credit, she did ask me if we had any dietary restrictions when we made our phone reservation). We stayed two nights, so we had two breakfasts. They were amazing! For our 2nd meal we had homemade spinach egg fritatta, sweet buns, thick-sliced oven-broiled bacon, freshly cut fruit slices with bananas, mandarin orange pieces, and kiwi, and all the coffee, juice, or tea you could want. We had a delicious homemade peach-nutmeg baked french-toast and sausage our first day. Dave and Bonnie both shared some of their own experiences with the area and gave us some local insider's info on stuff to do. Their advice on the open-air farmer's market was really helpful. They have a gift shop in the lower level that sells locally made goods. I thought that was pretty neat, and is a destination in and of itself. Dave and Bonnie were very gracious, and it's quite clear they have a heart for this business. I would highly recommend them. We'll be back as soon as we can! Thank you!

We had a very warm, comfortable welcome and totally enjoyable visit. Dave and Bonnie are excellent, experienced innkeepers who are very friendly and knowledgeable. Our rooms were lovely and immaculate. The furnishings are very well done and so appropriate for the inn. Breakfasts were so delicious and the presentation was great. We had a medical emergency while at the inn and they went out of their way to be helpful. We would recommend this inn very highly and would love to visit again. Dave and Betty Wahlstrom
