We stayed here for one night on a tour of the east of UK. This was our final destination and we loved it. Our classic room, although not in the castle itself was in the cottages in the grounds and it suited us perfectly. It was large, bright and immaculately presented - well done to the staff who tend the gardens too, they were lovely and the peacocks made us laugh more than once. The driveways are wide, we have a large car and narrow driving bays are a pain. The bar area was a talking point and the dinning room although busy still felt intimate. Food was good and there were some nice surprises served to us. I'd recommend for couples in particular.

Dear CatherineBarnes

Thank you so much for your kind review. Although your room was in the grounds of the hotel, these rooms offer every comfort, with the added bonus of fantastic views of the Castle. Langley is indeed an ideal location for couples, and is very popular for weddings, I'm sure every bride would love a real Castle for her wedding day. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and hope we can welcome you back in the very near future.

Best Regards
Elaine

This is a truly unique experience in an authentic castle.
The conversion of the castle to a hotel has been carried out very sympathetically.
The countryside is really beautiful even in the rain !
We stayed in the cadwallader room which is up a spiral staircase and really excellent.
There are castle view rooms but we really enjoyed spending our stay in the castle.

What makes this castle hotel special are the staff. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. They really made the stay special.

The food was also very good and there is a good choice for breakfast.

The battlements tour each morning is worth the effort to climb to the top of the castle.

Overall a superb 2 night break and whilst not cheap it was certainly worth the cost.

Dear AlanM603

Thank you so much for your recent review, and I am delighted you enjoyed the Cadwallader Room, as well as the food in the restaurant. I note in particular your comments regarding the staff, The North East is renowned for the friendliness of the people and this does apply very much to Langley. Your kind comments will be passed on to the rest of the team. We all look forward to welcoming you back to Langley very soon.

Best Regards
Elaine

Took advantage of a Travelzoo offer. What value for money! Our room was in the Castle view gardens. Wow! The decor was exquisite and the Queen size bed very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and the separate shower was magic. A nice touch in the large suite type room was the sky TV and the Alexia hub. There was also a sofa and large arm chair. The gardens were well kept and the peacocks were an added attraction but their droppings had to be carefully avoided on the paths. Breakfast in the castle would have been a problem if it was raining but a large umbrella was provided in the room. The evening meal was enjoyable and beautifully presented although expensive. The added service charge was the only fault. Will certainly go again.

Room tip: Castle rooms have many stairs, particularly the Tower Room

Dear Denis G

Thank you so much for your kind review. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay with us, and took advantage of our Travelzoo offer. The Castle View rooms are a delight within the grounds of the Castle, and offer breath taking views of the Castle itself.
Please check out our web site for short term special offers, and hopefully we shall have the pleasure of your company on another occasion.

There is no doubt that staying in the castle is a specal experience - I was pleased we upgraded from the “Castleview” rooms in an annex below the castle to the main historic building itself. Owned by an American who regularly visits, for English tastes it might be overstuffed with antiques and paintings not all directly connected to the Castle’s significant history. Our room had a four poster, comfortable chairs and good bathroom with excellent shower. But not the most comfortable mattress or pillows and no “beyond expectations” extras in the room.

The restaurant is prime dining and expensive, with plenty of pricey supplements beyond the somewhat slim choices that are not attractively described. The service was somewhat amateur for the stature of the place; butthe food well presented and more interesting than described.

Breakfast had some surprising “we’ve run out of that” statements; the toast was disappointing Mothers Pride type bread; jams etc were mass produced jars; very Premier Inn. The cold buffet was limited. But my kippers and egg was superb. Coffee - served in stainless pots but they were clearly filled from a large filter pot that was definitely not high quality nor fresh.

There are tours of the battlements at 10 am for guests.

So here we have a fabulous location and building, lovingly maintained by its owners, charging upmarket prices, spoiling its offering ( here and there) with a lack of attention to the detail - which when you pay £200 plus you feel entitled to.

Dear Hedgehog44

Thank you for taking the time to post your review of your recent stay. Although the Castle View rooms offer every comfort with fabulous views of the Castle itself, it is still special to be able to spend a night in a genuine 14th. century Castle. I was concerned to learn of your disappointment with breakfast, I do apologise for any lapse in our usual high standards, but I am delighted you enjoyed your Kippers and egg. I do hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Langley in the future.

Best Regards
Elaine

This hotel has got to be on your list for where to take your overseas visitors. It shouts quality, excellent service, and a place of historical interest in its own right. We enjoyed Sunday lunch. We could not fault the service and the meal was excellent.

Dear Hugh M

Thank you so much for your review following your recent visit to Langley Castle. Langley is indeed a big hit with our overseas visitors and is a place of historical interest in its own right, and with the iconic Hadrian's Wall right on the doorstep, makes Langley a must for a visit. But of course we love to see our local visitors too and look forward to welcoming you back for another visit soon.
