We stayed recently on a travel zoo offer and we couldn't fault the accommodation. The food was a disappointment. The restaurant was portrayed as an up market venue but I think it tried too hard and the quality of the food was well below the price charged. Breakfast was equally poor. I had fried bread but couldn't get my knife in it to cut it.

Dear RobinJune - Thank you for your review and comments regarding your recent stay at the Castle - Whilst I am delighted that your thought the accommodations were good I was most concerned to read your comments regarding the food - we have worked very hard over the years to offer food and service of a very high standard - the majority of comments we receive are of a very positive nature - I will certainly try and investigate what happened during your stay so that I can make any adjustments as required - I would thank you for taking the time and trouble to post this review - it is through constructive comments and criticisms such as yours that I am able to monitor and improve wherever possible, the standards to which we aspire - best regards - Anton

I stayed here with my boyfriend last weekend and we had a lovely time.
We arrived at 12 and even though check in was not till 2 our room was ready and very clean. On the way to the room we were informed on breakfast hours, local walks and the different resteraunts on offer. We chose the grill resteraunt, where we had the chateaubriand steak which was delicious. The food is brilliant - we ate lunch and breakfast here too, very generous portions and brilliant service.
It was my boyfriends birthday whilst we were here and we were given two complimentary glasses of champagne and the best table in the resteraunt was reserved for us. There are a wide variety of cocktails to chose from - I reccomend the strawberry and elderflower mojito - cocktails are availale from 11am to midnight.
Although there was a wedding on at the same time as our visit, we were made aware beforehand through post and as soon as we got there and it did not affect our stay at all.
I would definitely reccomend Langley Castle for a luxurious weekend away.

Room Tip: I would reccomend to stay in the actual castle - rooms have lots of character

Stayed for a weekend in July,2013. The setting and grounds are beautiful. There are a limited number of rooms in the castle itself. My wife and I stayed in the Castle View Suites. Rooms are comfortable and traditional as you would expect. Sky TV and Wi-fi are included. The bathrooms are ultra-modern and spotless. Accomodation is on a bed and breakfast basis with newspapers provided on request. Dining is provided in the main castle restaurant with an annexe called the Pavilion providing a less formal dining experience. Food is of the highest quality. Friendly and attentive staff. Free parking. The hotel is situated about 10 miles west of Hexham (clearly signposted) along the A69 road. Worth a visit if only for the experience of seeing friendly peacocks strolling about outside of your room. A really lovely experience all-round.

Room Tip: The Castle View Suites provide a beautiful view across lawn to the castle.

Full of character and charm. Staff friendly. How often do you stay in a Castle? Good value for the location, fabulous and inventive food, service. Use it for special stays. I proposed to my lady here and she said yes. Perfect backdrop

Recently visited for morning coffee ( very popular for weddings throughout the year). Asked whether we wanted fruit scones or cheese scones with our tea and coffee. We opted to share a cheese scone,

Langley Castle do a real twist on a cheese scone! The two halves came with a generous portion of philly(or similar on top) which in itself was topped with parma ham and drenched sundried tomatoes in olive oil

The whole bill was well under a tenner and the joy of experiencing this novel delight surrounded by sumptuous medieval furniture in the great Hall nade us wonder why we hadn't booked in for a week but then there is always next year!

Room Tip: Some accommodation is in the main Castle but some in recently restored (built) castle annexe

Dear Guest - we have worked very hard on the content and presentation of our afternoon teas and our Drawing Room menu - Your kind comments are very much appreciated and have been passed onto the team - We also offer our "twist" on a traditional Northumbrian "Singling Hinnie" served with Brown Ale Ice cream and accompanied with Ham & Pease Pudding Stotties - Something to try next time - Best regards - Anton
