Description: To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

We've been here many times and always order the seafood chowder which is excellent. Tried the chicken parm and loved it.

“Cozy and affordable with "ok" Lobster.”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

My 18 year old daughter wanted to take me out for lobster on my birthday. Red Lobster is a bit out of the way, so I researched Marblehead as a nearby alternative. We really liked the service and atmosphere upon entering the establishment. The staff are friendly and the Dining hall has an old world feel garnished with eloquent simplicity. (Not as bustling or "commercial" driven as some of the larger chains). The wait staff were quick and friendly, and we were provided with an assortment of complimentary warm, tasty rolls. We ordered drinks, the appetizer sampler and a lobster to share. The food came out quick! The appetizers were delicious and aesthetically pleasing. The lobster was arranged nicely on its platter as well. My only disappointment was the preparation of the crustacean itself. The meat was VERY soft, even soggy in parts, and rather bland. It seemed over cooked. Because of the cost, I only get out for lobster on special occasions and my daughter had never tasted it before, so it was a little disheartening when this special treat turned out rather lack luster. I'd like to reiterate that EVERYTHING about this establishment was really nice except the lobster itself, and the check was not offensive in the least. I might go back for another meal, but I'd likely try the chowder and steer away from their shellfish. It really is a nice establishment. Perhaps my soggy lobster was just a "fluke".

“Fresh lobster and big steamed shrimp”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

Our family went to Marblehead Chowder House to share good food with great service by our waitress Lori. Lobster, Alaskan Cod, Crab Patties and Chicken Parmesan was our menu selections which was not only the freshest seafood but very delicious. Chicken Parmesan was enjoyed by a non seafood lover which she thought was the best she has had. Our young granddaughter had asked for a different sauce on her spaghetti and they kindly accommodated her request. The desserts ordered were their outstanding peanut butter pie and their famous bread pudding which were just awesome. They even took a picture of our mother for her 94th birthday which was a nice gesture on their part. We visit this restaurant many times before and have never had a bad meal and always a friendly and accommodating staff.

“We'll be back!”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

We always have enjoyed Marblehead. Atmosphere is great, food almost always good. Wait staff is exceptional; friendly, knowledgable, patient and helpful. Some things on the menu are exceptional, once in a while not quite to our taste, but definitely worth going back to try everything! Their marketing is genius, with their club membership with benefits, birthday and anniversary discounts, email announcements, themed days, coupons, deals and games. It keeps us coming back again and again.
