Description: To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

“Lobster Daze are here again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

This seafood restaurant serves fresh seafood with the finest wait service around. Last night I had 3 types of oysters - Fanny, Blue Points, and Chesapeakes and they were all fabulous. Then I ordered the Lobster Daze special - a full lobster with coleslaw and french fries. The lobster was cooked to perfection and came with all the necessary equipment to get the job done. The atmosphere at the Marblehead is friendly and nautical. No reason to go to any chain seafood restaurants when Marblehead is nearby! BTW, reservations are HIGHLY recommended - this place is that good!

“our "go to" place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014

Always a constant and superb standard, we find ourselves there a few times a month along with birthdays and special occasions. One of the few places you can still get a great old fashioned drink, we are most comfortable dining in the bar area. Whether we sit at the bar or one of the comfy tables, we enjoy the great food and atmosohere!

“Anniversary celebration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2014

One of the ways we are celebrating our 50 years of marriage is by having a meal at Marblehead - a favorite place of ours to dine, During our celebratory visit we enjoyed the Crab Pierogies as our shared appetizer and the Sea Scallops and the Salmon Encroute as our entrees. Not only were they all delicious (as expected at the Marblehead) but the portions were most generous.
The attention given by our server added to the enjoyment of the occasion.

“Excellent Meal Again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

We are a frequent diner at the Marblehead Chowder House, and our latest visit did not disappoint us. My Prime Rib was excellent, as usual, as was the Lobster Daze special that my wife had. We brought friends along, and both were very happy with their selections and plan on joining the Captain's Club. The French Onion soup is still one of the best around.

“Good overall”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2014

Lobster Bisque is the best.
All the food in our group of 4 was great. I was a little disappointed in the small amount of seafood in my Jambalaya. Plenty of rice and great taste but could have had more actual seafood and less chicken in a great seafood restaurant. Hopefully, just an off night.
