Description: To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

I visited Marblehead for the first time with a friend to celebrate our birthdays. The hostess was very welcoming and the waitress was very friendly. We decided on their $18 Anniversary Specials along with discounted appetizers. We both chose the Warm Crab Dip that came with assorted veggies and crostini which were still warm. All items we excellent! We then got our main course. I chose the Pan Seared Cod with Crab and my friend the Sirloin Steak. We were told that they were out of the Sirloin and were replacing with T-Bone (which was fine with us). We shared our meal with each other to create a little surf and turf. The T-Bone was excellent - cooked to perfection, just a few fatty parts. The Pan Seared Cod was average. Unfortunately it was just warm and I had a slight difficulty distinguishing between the Cod and the Salmon Mashed potatoes. It was covered with crab and mushroom and while tasted good, might have been better with hot. The meals were reasonably priced and followed up with a cute candy bowl/dessert menu. Would definitely go again!

My group and I gave a birthday party here and although the food was really good it was the staff that made the difference. The party was a surprise and the staff worked to keep it that way. Anne was our server and she was excellent. She was patient, kind and gave excellent service. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. All of my party commented on her excellent service. She was pleasant and had a great attitude (which is hard to find these days). Ask to sit at Anne's table when you go. She also kept a smile on her face. Thanks for everything.

My husband and I went to the Marblehead Chowder House for our Anniversary this past week. We got there a little early and ordered a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. The drinks were very good and very generous. Bar was very busy, but the staff was extremely friendly and obliging. We were seated right on time. Our waitress explained the specials for the evening and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was great!! All in all, it was a wonderful, memorable experience.
