Description: To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

Great seafood. Reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere. The staff is friendly and courteous. The Alaskan Cod is the best in the area. They go out of their way to satisfy their customers. Highly recommend the place. We travel about 15 miles just to eat there, it is well worth our trip.

My husband and I have been to the Marblehead Chowder House four different times now and every single time, the food just gets better and better. Pretty surprising because I'm not sure how you can improve on perfection! My husband always starts out with a dozen raw clams, which he says are the sweetest clams he's ever had. We have also tried the Crab Cocktail (like Shrimp Cocktail only with fresh lump crab) and it is delicious. We've had the prime rib, the seafood combo and the seafood au gratin ... and all were superb. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend if you go to ask for Kenny, Nicole or Jayme. All three waiters are worth their weight in gold! Reservations are probably a really good idea, as they are usually extremely busy during peak dinner hours. This is an awesome seafood restaurant which has now become our favorite go-to place to eat!

Lunch was delicious. The warm lobster roll was just chunks of lobster with melted butter on the side. Dessert was funnel cake and ice cream, what a treat. Service is always great and a nice
friendly atmosphere.

My dinner was great. The pasta had nice chunks of lobster and a creamy pink sauce. My companions had the cioppino which was said to be spicy and it wasn't at all but it was tasty. The bread pudding was wonderful. Warm with a whiskey sauce which did not have any flavor of alcohol but that was fine. I would go back.

Finding a good seafood house can be difficult. Marblehead always has the freshest seafood. The ambience is New England in a mid Atlantic state. The cole slaw is one of the best. And my favourite lobster was cooked not overcooked.
